by Rainier on June 16, 2021 @ 1:24 a.m. PDT

Road 96 is a procedural narrative adventure where you must escape a country on the brink of collapse and reach the border, thousands of miles away in the mountains.

The country of Petria has gone to hell. The Regime is out of control. Time to escape, head for the border, the free world. The last of your parents' savings in your pocket, thousands of miles at your feet, and a small hope of crossing the border alive.

Hitchhike your way across the country in the first ever procedural narrative game. Meet memorable characters, discover secrets, learn skills, to help you cross the border to freedom.

Road 96 is a homage to road trip movies and series, the films of Tarantino, the Coen Brothers and is filled with ‘90s flavor. You will travel multiple times to discover the games’ secrets and reveal the true personalities of this nation's inhabitants, their unique storylines, hidden connections and maybe change the country through the decisions you make.

You play as a broke teenager, trying to get freedom and safety past the country border. As you get closer and the summer passes, the plot intensifies, presenting deep moral dilemmas, dark and intense moments, lots of encounters, places, means of travels and crucial choices that might change your initial goal.

During each run to the border, you’ll have dozens of choices to make regarding your means of travel, your interactions with the inhabitants and if you manage, or not, to solve puzzles and stay alive. All the decisions you are making alter your experience, closing options, opening some others. Your choices matter, unveil more of the stories and secrets of this nation’s troubled past.

There are thousands of routes along Road 96. Which one will you take?

DigixArt is happy to announce that Road 96 will be available for the first time in demo format at the Steam Next Fest from today June 16 (10am Pacific Time) until June 22.
