In Knockout City, intense battles are a way of life and players will need to master the art of throwing, catching, passing and dodging in a joyful, yet highly competitive experience that will smack them in the face with surprises.
Whether it's 3v3, 4v4 or free-for-all quick matches in Street Play, competitively ranked games in League Play or a hosted experience in a Private Match, the fight to take down rival Crews takes many forms. In Knockout City, players start every match on a level playing field and need to rely on skill to dominate the competition. A solid Crew is also the difference between dishing out punishment and taking it. The game is easy to pick up and play, but practice is key to mastering positioning, timing and teamwork for dodgeBRAWL dominance.
And of course once players master the moves, they’ll want to be seen with their own unique look. Knockout City's robust customization options – from appearance, gear, attitude, body type and hairstyle to a custom glider, KO effects and taunts – will have players brawling in style. It’s not just about the player but also their Crew, and with up to 32 friends across platforms, players can customize their Crew name, logo, banner and even pick a custom Crew vehicle to ride into battle.
At launch, Knockout City will deliver a full multiplayer package with five multiplayer maps, one interactive environment where players and their Crew can practice, six ball types, full character customization, cross-play, cross-progression, Street Play with five starting playlists, League Play, Private Match, and the complete Street Rank Progression with hundreds of cosmetic items. Beyond this huge value at launch, Knockout City will also bring a ton of new content through seasons at no additional charge, where each season can include new maps, modes, balls, limited time events and more.
Today, EA and Velan Studios shared a look at what’s ahead for its dodgeball-inspired hit, Knockout City, with a roadmap detailing the thrilling content players can expect from now through the end of the year.
Roadmap Sneak Peek
Since Knockout City launched, we’ve paid close attention to the feedback we’ve received from the community and used your insight to help make changes to improve the game. A little over a week ago, we announced we would bring back Team KO by popular demand, and we’ve shared updates whenever possible regarding our updates to improve bugs that caused players to receive quit penalties. Now, we thought you might like to know a little more about what’s coming for the future.
Get ready, because Season 2 will be here before you know it (starting July 27), with a whole new theme. It also brings a new map, a new Special Ball, three Special Events, new Season Contracts, five new Playlists, and the introduction of a new Daily Login Bonus—a random reward you’ll receive every day you play. Some examples could be Style Chips, Holobux, or Energy Drinks. Who’s gonna say no to an extra Boba Cola for that sweet boost?
Contracts
What’s the first thing you do when you log in for the day? If your answer isn’t, “Check and track my Contracts,” you might be missing out. How are you going to get those big XP bonuses if you don’t know what your goals are for the day? Check Contracts between matches and keep track of how you’re doing, and make sure to cross off the three new Daily Contracts each day for a quick 3000 XP boost! On the Crew Contracts side of things, don’t forget that completing all six weekly Crew Contracts will get you an XP bonus that stacks for the remainder of the season! And this week, you’re gonna want to do at least four, because your Epic Crew Vehicle is a SHARK ATTACK!
Brawl Shop
What’s in the shaaaaap? Well, for starters, you can get down with your bad self when you get the Glitterbomb head, available today (June 28th) in the Brawl Shop!
Then, keep your eyes peeled on July 3rd for a Legendary face in the shop. If you’ve been following along for a while now, you may remember the image in the Tweet below that had everyone pondering. What could be so special about Secret Balloon Man? What kind of face was he hiding behind that black bar? And why couldn’t he come down and pose with the rest of the Crew anyway? Want a sneak peek? Tomorrow night at 5:30 p.m. ET / 2:30 p.m. PT, we’ll reveal Balloon Man’s hidden dome live at https://www.twitch.tv/KnockoutCity. Our dev team streams every Tuesday with live gameplay, discussions, and more, so pop in and chat about the game and ask your questions! Who knows? We may even give away some Style Chips or a KO City Swag Box (not found in stores—well, not found anywhere)!
Playlists
This week’s new playlist is one a few of you guessed at—it’s Classic Team KO. No Special Balls, no Sniper Ball or Bomb Ball to run from, just you and your skills. Let’s see how you do!
Invite Your Friends!
Want your friends to get in on the dodgebrawl action, but need to give them a little push in the right direction? Well, take them down to the store on their platform of choice, because right now, Knockout City is 25% off on PlayStation®, Xbox, Origin, and Steam! These deals won’t last long, so don’t delay!
With more than five million players in just two weeks, EA and Velan Studios will continue to bring the fun that fans have grown to love in Knockout City with a new season every nine weeks, with Season 3 set to reveal this fall and Season 4 in winter. The team’s commitment to live operations for the game, in conjunction with collaboration with the player community, will continue to evolve Knockout City season-over-season with new content and surprises -- all included in the initial $19.99 price of the game (no additional cost for new season content!). In the meantime, brawlers can continue to seek thrill and action with the recent limited-time event, Heatwave; players only have one full week left to cash in saved up tickets before the event ends and items are gone forever.
There’s plenty more details on new content that will be announced in the coming days, weeks, and months (oh yeah, we’re here for the long haul, baby), so keep on brawlin’!
When the game launches, players will also have access to a free trial for a limited time across PC via Origin and Steam, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, during which time the full game will be playable.
Players who choose to purchase the full game during the free trial will be able to transfer all their progress, plus receive additional cosmetic rewards, as they continue to brawl in Knockout City. For those who purchase after the free trial, they’ll still be able to transfer all their progress over.
With cross-play and cross-progression, up to 32 friends can team up across platforms to form Crews, and even switch between platforms with progress intact, to take down rival Crews in the name of dodgeball dominance.
Knockout City is available for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC (Origin and Steam), as well as PS5 and Xbox Series X|S through forward compatibility with graphical and performance enhancements for $19.99.
