'Mech Armada' Available On Steam Early Access Date - Trailer

by Rainier on Aug. 10, 2021 @ 6:00 a.m. PDT

Mech Armada is a super fast-paced turn-based rougelike, that sees you smash massive monsters with massive mechs.

The world as we knew it ended when the Swarm came. Hordes of terrifying creatures out of our worst nightmares ravaged the Earth, destroying every living thing in sight. We few survivors fled underground, desperately searching for the tech and resources to survive - and fight back. To battle the monsters we created an armada of war machines called Mechs.

Thanks to ground-breaking replicator tech these Mechs could be generated almost instantly in the battlefield, turning the tide of what seemed to be an unwinnable war. As we pushed back, we used every resource to power our way forward to destroy the Swarm.

Combining elements from multiple genres to create an ever-changing turn-based tactics game, Mech Armada is inspired by the likes of Darkest Dungeon and Slay the Spire, and gives players a heavy dose of deckbuilding (with robots, not cards), resource management, fast tactical tiled-based combat and perma-death.

Set against a campaign of skirmishes to defeat the Swarm, you’ll need to customize your mech loadouts, utilise terrain, and play to your strengths in procedurally generated encounters that continually increase in difficulty.

Mech Armada puts you in command of a team of custom-built Mechs. You'll need to plan carefully if you want to overpower the invading Swarm in a series of small tactical battles. Upgrade and build your deck of available Mechs, manage your resources and leverage your territory wisely. Get it wrong and it's game over. Start again with a whole new experience as monsters, maps, resources and rewards are all randomly generated.

Mech Armada is now available through Steam Early Access for $14.99.

“There is an opportunity to combine the depth of tactics games with the replayability of deckbuilding roguelikes to create a new experience that players can enjoy over and over,” says Lioncode founder, Sergio Garces.

“In its current state, Mech Armada’s core tactical combat gameplay and roguelite campaign are ready. The game features 70 Mech parts all with different abilities, 5 different biomes and 30 monster types to fight, including 5 bosses. Even at this stage that’s enough content for many hours of gameplay thanks to the procedural generation aspect of the roguelite campaign, as each run will feel quite different, and permanent upgrades and unlocks will affect future runs.”

“I’m planning to keep Mech Armada in Early Access for about a year. But plans can change and it may take longer than that to reach the point where I feel it’s properly finished.”

“Mech Armada will grow in several ways for the full version. I’m planning to at least add the following:

  • New Mech parts
  • Global upgrades and modifiers that change rules during a run
  • More Swarm monsters
  • New modes, like a Daily Challenge
  • Improvements on gameplay systems, UX and quality of life
  • Lots of balance adjustments
  • Mod support
  • Controller support
  • Steam achievements

I’ll also be looking to the community to help guide how and when new features and content get added.”

Key Features:

  • Deep strategic combat: There are no perfect solutions. Create your own strategy by cleverly making the most out of your resources and the situation.
  • Design your own mech: With 70+ available Mech parts, you can create thousands of unique combinations. Each part has its own strengths and weaknesses, giving you an enormous range of possibilities.
  • Turn-Based combat: You can move into position and attack with each of your mechs, in any order. Then it's the Swarm's turn...
  • Procedurally generated: All the gameplay elements (monsters, maps, resources and rewards) are randomly combined and balanced ensuring no two battles are the same.
  • Roguelike campaign: Death means game over. Try again with an entirely new run, with new random parts and encounters. You'll have to make do with what you get!
  • Auto-save: Never worry about saving again. Leave your game at any point and return exactly where you left off.
  • Environment variety: From the outskirts of destroyed cities, to desert wastelands, the  Swarm spreads and the battle for survival rages on.
  • Epic bosses: They're massive, ugly and ridiculously tough. Are you up to the task?

Mech Armada is scheduled for full launch in 2022.
