Kingshunt’s gameplay pits two teams of heroes against each other in intense 5v5 matches. One group, the Defenders, consists of the forces of Light and the Attackers consists of the forces of Undead. Each game is set across two intense phases with changing objectives. At the end of each step, a powerful AI-controlled Guardian appears, blocking the attackers’ progress to the next stage. Battle-hardened teams of attackers must then face-off against their foe and vanquish it to progress to the next phase. 

Combat is strategic and deliberate. Survival demands superior awareness, precision, and instincts. You must commit your sword only when an opportunity opens. Calculate your opponents moves to unleash devastating counterblows.

Heroes are the essential element of Kingshunt, as the course of the game is dependent on their intervention. Play character that best fits your style and utilizes their own unique mastery of skills and abilities. As a hero gains experience, they will gain power increasing Runes and course of the battle changing Utilities, creating new unique playstyles. All heroes have distinct roles that define how they affect the battlefield.

Painstakingly created and masterfully crafted over four years by a core development team of just ten people, Kingshunt blends multiple game-genre mechanics against a medieval high-fantasy backdrop complete with castles, knights and monsters. Designed as a mix of brawler and hero shooter, Kingshunt fuses viscera ranged and melee combat with strategic depth as players spawn AI minions to help them dominate the battlefield, adding an RTS feel to the gameplay. Players can select from a  roster of unique heroes with their own weapons, skills, and fighting styles. Combatants can also earn Rune points during battles, which they can use to upgrade their character and enhance their chosen playing style.

Finnish developer Vaki Games shared the details of all launch day Heroes for its highly-anticipated fantasy medieval combat game Kingshunt.

Inspired by titles such as Paragon and For Honor, Kingshunt allows players to select from one of six Heroes, one to fit each and every playstyle.

Players can take the role of one of six Heroes:

1. Malakai - A melee caster support Hero with a Scythe that can trap its enemies and create strategic opportunities. Malakai can use his Bone Wall defensively to block incoming damage or offensively as a means of crowd control.
2. Knight - A two-handed sword attack Hero with high armor and defense. Knight has the power to create incredible attack combos, leap towards enemies, and an invulnerability spell.
3. Enchantress - A spell caster support Hero that assists troops from the back row with ranged spells and morale-boosting buffs. With ranged attacks, lighting-based specials, and the ability to increase teammates’ attack power, Enchantress assists in several ways.
4. Demigod - A high-powered attack Hero with a two-handed Axe full of devastating power. Demigod can move with speed while still dealing critical damage. This Hero also has a crowd control move through delivering a crushing blow that creates spikes from the ground on a large cone.
5. Prosecutor - A bruiser-tank Hero with a hammer and shield. Prosecutor can hurl his hammer, charge his shield for boosted defense, and protect his allies with stat enhancements.
6. Legena - Legena’s arcane powers help keep her close to teammates like a guardian angel. She can also blind enemies to escape or support allies in need. Once she has charged arcane power, Legena can save multiple allies by summoning magical beast Treliv

Vaki Games are participating in the Gamescom Indie Mega booth from Wednesday, August 25th until Sunday, August 29 during which players can join the next open beta by downloading Demo on Steam.

Since the Beta Weekend, we have been working hard on bringing more content to the game as well as rebalancing the existing elements:

New Rune menu: With the new rune system, we have also added a bunch of new runes to play with! Another major update is the Rune Power multiplier which increases the strength of your character’s abilities, gives characters ways to grow during the match, and rival stronger minions and towers.

Utilities: We have also introduced new utilities and loadout customization to play with! Now players can unlock new towers and spells and add them to their loadouts to find new ways to play the game.

New utilities

• Attacker:
  • Bomb utility that destroys every structure, trap, and unit in its radius.
  • Breacher minion that targets the nearest structure, group of operators, or Guardian and destroys them.
• Defender:
  • Payload health regen aura
  • Commander minion summon to protect a tower
  • Barricades can now be built freely anywhere

Other Improvements

It would not be a new test without fixing a bunch of issues and bugs or introducing some smaller usability improvements as well. Expect improvements to general stability, playable maps, UI, in-game settings, and ping markers to name a few.
