'Wanderer' Delayed Until Q4 2021, Reveals Lead Character, Physical Edition - Trailer

by Rainier on Sept. 20, 2021 @ 9:00 a.m. PDT

Wanderer is a VR time travel adventure game that takes you back through history to reshape humanity's fortune.

Wanderer takes you back through the ages to reshape humanity’s fortune. Playing as Asher Neumann, you’re thrust into an unexpected journey to change the course of history.

You find yourself in an alternate, apocalyptic timeline where the search begins for your grandfather’s lost apartment and the mysterious artifacts that are hidden within. With the discovery of an unusual wristwatch, you forge a friendship and unlock the power to traverse time and space.

Wanderer combines a unique blend of escape room-style puzzles and hands-on action sequences that will see you bring together objects and events from various time periods in sometimes unlikely and inventive ways. Take a step back into history, with full motion control on dual PS move controllers, to experience beautifully detailed worlds that come to life with realistic and innovative physics-based interactions.

After a surprise reveal earlier this year, much-hyped game Wanderer and the team behind it, collaborating studios M Theory and Oddboy, have been a bit quiet over the last few months regarding the game’s upcoming release.

The virtual reality time travel adventure game, originally pegged for release in Q3 of 2021, has experienced some setbacks and the release is now delayed to later in the year.

“The last year has been a pretty tricky one. Navigating Covid-19 and its effects while maintaining a healthy and productive environment and developing a unique game for VR has meant we’re running a bit behind on our schedule,” says their official announcement.

Knowing this news may come as a blow to their growing fanbase they’ve cushioned it with the release of exciting in-game footage that showcases an extended play-by-play on one of its key characters – Samuel the Watch.

The Watch is the companion to the game’s lead character, Asher Neumann, and is integral to your journey through the adventure and in solving any puzzles you encounter. Part One of two video reveals takes a deep dive into the features of the watch and shows just how vital its role is in solving Wanderer’s time travel mysteries.

There’s more good news to counter the bad. M Theory and Oddboy have also teamed up with publisher Perp Games to bring a Wanderer PlayStation VR physical edition to retail. The physical version will include the game and an exclusive digital version of the amazingly detailed artbook.

“It’s been awesome to get this partnership with Perp off the ground. It extends our audience and is a great keepsake for fans - perhaps even one of the last first gen PSVR games available as a physical edition. The team at Perp have been wonderful to work with and we can’t wait to get our hands on the final box!” says Sam Ramlu, Executive Producer at Wanderer..

“Probably the best looking PSVR game we have had the privilege to play, Wanderer is an incredibly detailed and extremely well-thought-out puzzle adventure game. It’s a pleasure to be publishing the physical retail edition,” said Rob Edwards, Managing Director at Perp Games.

“For anyone who’s ever wanted to ‘be there’: on stage at Woodstock, part of the moon landings, or with Nikola Tesla in the early 20th century, Wanderer is a must-have game for history and adventure game buffs alike.”

Uncover traitors in the dying days of an arms race as you crack codes during WW2. Prepare intricate machinery alongside frenzied inventor Nikola Tesla as you help prepare his world power machine. Take the stage in 1969 and give the performance of a lifetime to unite a generation. Defend a king and civilization from what seems to be an inevitable downfall in the 1500s. Accompanied by a cinematic score, Wanderer captures and intricately weaves the sounds of these environments with the story as it unfolds.

Will you have what it takes to navigate the secrets of the past and prevent the collapse of civilization?  Do you follow what you know to be true or are there forces at play beyond your control?

Wanderer is coming to PS VR and PC (Oculus and Steam VR) in Q4 2021.
