Grim Tranquility is a sci-fi-themed roguelite, tactics-based RPG where you explore alien worlds and battle vicious enemies in your quest to establish the first human settlement in space.

Humans have ruined Earth’s ecology after years of denying scientific truths, and now search for a new home among the stars. Hostile aliens force us to confront the mistakes that led us here. After centuries of environmental exploitation, the Earth is all but destroyed… its resources depleted… its climate uninhabitable. Humankind has used the last available resources to search for a home in a new world that may be harsher than even Earth was.

Players face a diverging narrative, faction choices and real consequences as they rebel against a corrupt empire and take out or replace selfish leaders in high stakes boss fights. Players will forge humanity’s future on an alien world and fight bizarre creatures on procedurally generated battlefields. Initially armed with primitive earth weapons, they must work to upgrade their loadout, recruit new party members, overthrow powerful enemies and influence alien officials with bribes to receive pre-battle buffs, or ignore them and risk crippling penalties.  

Will humanity finally learn from their past mistakes or are they doomed to repeat the avoidable tragedies of their ancestors?

Grim Tranquility is the debut title from independent developer Poorly Timed Games, which was founded and is led by industry veteran Chris Wright, who has worked on games like Diablo 3, StarCraft 2, World of Warcraft, and Destiny 2. Composed of a team of industry veterans, Poorly Timed Games diverse staff is over 60% LGBTQIA+ representing a diverse group of developers who have long been overshadowed by the cishet males of the gaming industry.  The studio’s goal is to create unique and memorable game experiences that blend different game genre types with narratives that shine a light on diversity, equality and real environmental and social issues.

Grim Tranquility is coming to PC (Steam) in 2022.
