'Megaquarium' Freshwater Frenzy DLC Delayed On Consoles Until March

by Rainier on Jan. 20, 2022 @ 2:38 p.m. PST

Megaquarium is a economic management sim that breaks new ground by taking classic tycoon gameplay and applying it to a brand new industry, the unique and challenging business of public aquariums.

Gameplay revolves around creating and laying out exhibits, managing the aquarium’s workload among its staff and ensuring the entire endeavor runs at a profit.

Megaquarium’s wide array of aquatic life will keep the player thinking on their fin. With fish, sharks, crustaceans, corals, jellyfish, cephalopods and more, their diverse care requirements will demand attention to detail and strategic thinking. As players advance they’ll unlock new livestock, equipment, guest facilities and more. This all funnels back into the success of their aquarium as layout choice and staff management, create a make-or-break tycoon experience that tests the player to the limit of their creativity and economic ability.

Pick from almost 100 different species to house in your exhibits, satisfy their needs and don’t let them die! Hire a team of aquatic experts, manage them efficiently and level up their skills. Ensure your guests have access to key facilities like toilets and snacks, then squeeze them for their last penny as they leave via the gift shop! All this and more leads to a successful aquarium. Do you have what it takes to make the biggest attraction in the city?

Originally planned for Jan. 25, 2022, Freshwater Frenzy is the first Deluxe Expansion for Megaquarium, and it's coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox on March 1st.

"We wanted to reach out to let you know that we are moving the release date of Megaquarium Freshwater Frenzy to 1st March 2022. We wanted to give you more information and to be as honest as we can.

The console port is ready and we are eager to get it into the hands of you and our players, but issues outside of our control have come up around the submission process. In order to make sure we are able to release on all 3 consoles at the same time we are having to delay the launch.

This was a difficult decision to make but we wanted to do what’s best and fair for all players so we can still launch on all platforms simultaneously. Despite this setback we are still really excited to bring the DLC to console, and we are doing what is fair by our players and sticking to a simultaneous release.

We are working hard to fix this, and we thank the community for understanding."

From the prehistoric Arapaima to the infamous Piranha, Freshwater Frenzy is packed full of new species to discover. There are new care requirements to learn and demanding new aquascaping requirements to fulfil too!

For the first time in Megaquarium history you will be able to rear baby animals in your aquarium. There are unique breeding requirements of each animal, so breeding them is no easy task, and nor is raising them!

Reptiles such as turtles and crocs require land as well as water, which means there are new tank designs to help you look after them in the best way!
