Rumbleverse is a new free-to-play melee battle royale, firing up to 40 players out of a cannon and into the streets of Grapital City to unleash an ever-changing arsenal of elbow drops, powerbombs, and dropkicks as they scale, leap and vault across the city streets and rooftops.
The setting for Rumbleverse is Grapital City, a place that was built as a monument to the glorious traditions of melee combat. Every citizen of this island lives for the fight and dreams of becoming a champion, and you can become one of them. In this game, you’ll create a unique character to be shot out of a cannon to experience the Rumble. Dash through the city streets in search of upgrades to level up the way you fight and battle all challengers to be the last player standing – either alone or as a member of a tag-team.
Rumbleverse is what we call a Brawler Royale. If you’ve ever played a battle royale game, you’re in for some surprises. This is a chance for you to put down the long-range weapons and get up close and personal with your opponents. In Grapital City, almost anything can be a weapon and there is no structure you cannot climb. There is chaos around every corner. You can leap from rooftop to rooftop. You can suplex an opponent from the heights of the tallest skyscraper to the streets below.
Customize your fighter with everything from a chef hat, to a hotdog vest, to a chicken mask – with 14 points of customization you’ll be sure to create a character that’s wholly unique to you.
During the First Look play session, it was hilarious and inspiring to see people land their first elbow drop from the top of a skyscraper. Those are the moments you dream about when you work on a game. The thing about game development is that plans have a way of changing…
Today, we are announcing that we have decided not to launch Rumbleverse on February 15.
Having Grapital City filled with Rumblers taught us a lot. We’re excited about the game we’re making – and we’re glad you are, too – but there’s more we want to do to perfect the experience. More than a game, Rumbleverse will be a community that we want to support for a long time. We’re going to take the time to make sure we can get that right.
This obviously means that Early Access won’t begin on February 8. If you bought the Early Access Pack on the PlayStation Store, Xbox Games Store, or the Epic Games Store, we are working with our platform partners to refund your purchase. We’ll provide another opportunity for you to purchase content for the game once we schedule a new launch date.
We can’t wait to start building a brand-new community of Rumblers. If you’re eager to play again, there will be some chances for you to help us test the new technology that will bring us together on the Battle Barge. The first test will be February 12 on PC. Click here if you’re a PC gamer who’d like to help us perfect the new infrastructure that will bring us all together on the Battle Barge.
