'Stranded: Alien Dawn' Early Access Update Will Add New Biome, Moons, Character, Difficulty And More Next Week

by Rainier on Nov. 24, 2022 @ 9:27 a.m. PST

Stranded: Alien Dawn is a planet survival simulation where you will discover an expansive, unforgiving 3D landscape and forge each survivor’s story.

Marooned on a deadly alien world, the fate of a small group of survivors hinges on the player’s every decision.

Stranded: Alien Dawn challenges players to overcome adversity and ensure their diverse group of survivors can flourish in their strange new surroundings.

Combining modular base construction with deep resource management, research, crafting, and more, players begin Stranded: Alien Dawn with nothing but the essentials, discovering beautiful yet deadly new environments in order to evolve their own unique, thriving base. Grapple withmysterious illnesses, extreme weather, and alien wildlife attacks, with the needs of survivors at the heart of every choice.

Whether players opt to transform their crash site into a sprawling haven or a fortified compound, salvaging and harvesting nearby resources is essential to finding the ideal materials to build and protect their survivors’ new base. Researching new technologies and acquiring knowledge are also vital, equipping survivors to make breakthroughs and advancements that will expand their horizons.

While shelter and security are crucial for success, caring for each member of the group is critical for long-term survival. Take advantage of their individual strengths, weaknesses, and traits to help survivors unite, adapt and overcome unprecedented circumstances. Craft weapons, hunt, forage and grow food, develop medicines, and keep the group entertained, to ensure their physical and mental wellbeing on a far-flung planet.

In Stranded: Alien Dawn players must make difficult choices to shape the story of their survivors, balancing short and long-term outcomes with risk and reward. Creativity, resourcefulness, and innovation are key to ensuring survivors will live to see another sunrise in this unforgiving alien world.

Frontier Foundry and developer Haemimont Games announced the first major content update, Dunes and Moons, for Stranded: Alien Dawn, which brings exciting new features to all players on December 1st.

Early access players can explore the Desertum biome, a new alien environment that brings unique challenges. Desertum’s rocky, orange-hued landscape is home to scarce plant life and low soil quality, requiring a strategic approach to ensure marooned survivors can truly thrive. With its own native flora and fauna, as well as unpredictable weather events including dust storms, players must utilise the resources within Desertum to make it through the wet and dry seasons and evolve their surroundings from a crash site into a bustling base.

Alongside a striking new biome, players can now select a new survivor, Sora, to their group as part of the update. Her difficult desert past has hardened her to heatwaves and cold snaps, while enhanced combat skills may prove vital during attacks from deadly alien wildlife such as the reptilian Tecatli, which pose additional threats to survival.

Three new moons will also be gracing the skies of Stranded: Alien Dawn as part of the update, each with a distinct impact on gameplay. The presence of Jason provides survivors with plenty of adversity, but offers ample time for them to prepare and recover from events; Nyx influences wildlife to attack more frequently during the hours of darkness; while Chaos lives up to its namesake, with unpredictable events all-but-guaranteed.

In addition, the Dunes and Moons Update introduces two new difficulty levels designed to challenge even the most adept of survival strategists. Very Hard and Insane difficulties will allow practiced players looking to test themselves the ultimate opportunity to prove their skills. Players will also have the chance to unlock five new achievements, as their survivors grapple with their harsh new surroundings.

Throughout early access, aspiring survivalists can look forward to additional updates and enhancements, with plenty of thrilling content to come.
