by Rainier on Nov. 24, 2022 @ 9:42 a.m. PST

For the next week, the Epic Games Store is offering one titles for free: Star Wars: Squadrons.

Star Wars: Squadrons

"Master the art of starfighter combat in the authentic piloting experience Star Wars: Squadrons. Buckle up and feel the adrenaline of first-person multiplayer space dogfights alongside your squadron. Pilots who enlist will step into the cockpits of starfighters from both the New Republic and Imperial fleets and fight in strategic 5v5 space battles. Modify your starfighter and adjust the composition of your squadron to suit varying playstyles and crush the opposition. Pilots will triumph as a team and complete tactical objectives across known and never-before-seen battlefields, including the gas giant of Yavin Prime and the shattered moon of Galitan.

Take control of starfighters such as the X-wing and TIE fighter. Customize loadouts and cosmetics, divert power between weapons, shields, and engines, while immersing yourself in the cockpit.

Learn what it means to be a pilot in a thrilling STAR WARS single-player story set after the events of Return of the Jedi. Seen from alternating perspectives between two factions, iconic and emerging leaders on both sides are battling for the galaxy. The New Republic fights for freedom. The Empire demands order. We need you to join the galaxy’s finest.

Once Star Wars: Squadrons, the current free game on the Epic Games Store, has run its course, it will be up to RPG In A Box and Fort Triumph, which will be gratis starting December 1 until December 8, 2022.

RPG In A Box

RPG in a Box lets you easily turn your stories and ideas into games and other interactive experiences! As its name suggests, it contains everything necessary for doing so, all packaged together "in a box". The software is designed with a fun, beginner-friendly approach in mind as to not require any programming or modelling knowledge, while still providing a wide range of customization and openness. You can export your game to a standalone format for Windows, Linux, and MacOS, allowing others to play it without needing to own RPG in a Box!

Voxel Editor: Build tiles, objects, and characters from 3D pixel blocks (i.e. voxels) and easily animate them with the editor's frame-based, stop-motion animation system. Importing from MagicaVoxel (.vox), Qubicle (.qb) and PNG files is also supported.

Map Editor: Create grid-based worlds with the tiles you've built, then bring them to life by adding interactive NPCs and objects using the editor's intuitive navigation and interaction system.

Visual Scripting: Set up and trigger in-game events with the visual, node-based script editor. Simply drag and drop the desired actions (no programming knowledge required), or manually code "quick scripts" using Bauxite, the custom, Lua-like scripting language.

Camera System: Choose from three available camera presets (standard, isometric, and first-person) or tweak the settings to create a custom camera. Stage dynamic cutscenes for your game using the engine’s flexible camera scripting system.

Combat Systems: Choose from tactical turn-based, real-time, or menu-driven turn-based combat, with more options and customization to come in future updates.

Fort Triumph

A strategy game combining the turn-based combat of XCOM with the world exploration of HOMM. Build towns, collect artifacts, improve your heroes, and influence your tactical surroundings using physics!

Fort Triumph is a challenging fantasy turn-based tactics game where permanent death is a possibility at any moment. How's that for pressure?

Lead a band of heroes with different skill sets through a witty, parody fantasy plot. Missions with various objectives are waiting for you on tiled procedural maps—whether in story mode or skirmish, prepare yourself for a grand adventure.

Key Features:

  • Utilize your surroundings: Every tree or boulder is a potential weapon in battle.
  • Strategize: Choose between four factions and four classes. Build your base, gather resources and teach your characters new skills!
  • Grow your heroes: Gain traits and cross-class skills to make your heroes unique every time you play!
