'Neon White' Comes to PS4 And PS5 Later This Month - Trailer

by Rainier on Dec. 1, 2022 @ 5:35 p.m. PST

Neon White is a first-person action platformer about exterminating demons in Heaven.

Neon White features a hellishly clever story that proves it's never too late to ask for forgiveness.

In Neon White gamers play as White, an assassin hand picked from Hell to compete with other demon slayers for a chance to live permanently in Heaven. Since True Believers can’t kill anyone, he, along with the other Neons, are tasked with dealing with an evil demon infestation. Using magic playing cards that transform into weapons, the Neons compete with one another for a chance to win the Mechanical Halo, a device that will allow them to stay indefinitely.

Neon White uses a light card-based combat system, wherein each “Soul Card” card represents a limited-use weapon that can be discarded to activate a special movement ability (Dash, Jump, Stomp). New cards are revealed by defeating demons or finding them in treasure chests placed around the world. Assassins must balance using Soul Cards as attacks or discarding them for movement abilities. The only way to increase their Neon Rank is by earning medals for fast times!

Key Features:

  • You play as Neon White, an assassin plucked from Hell to compete with other demon slayers for a shot at redemption.
  • Collect “Soul Cards” to attack your foes or discard them to use unique movement abilities.
  • Compete for the best times by cleverly combining cards to discover massive shortcuts.
  • Uncover Heaven’s mysteries by getting to know the other assassins.

Ben Esposito originally partnered with Annapurna Interactive to develop whimsical physics puzzle game Donut County in 2018, and is partnering with the publisher yet again for a fresh take on action adventure games in the upcoming Neon White. Ben is also known for his work prototyping and consulting on game design for the BAFTA Game Awards winner What Remains of Edith Finch.

Currently available for Nintendo Switch and PC (Steam), Neon White is coming to PS4 and PS5 on December 13, 2022.
