'Session' Early Access Update Adds New Areas, Game Mode, Five Skaters, Improved Physics And More - Trailer

Session: Skate Sim is a skateboarding sim entirely focused on creativity and freedom of expression, nothing else!

Inspired by the golden era of skateboarding, the early 90s and early 2000, Session's primary goal is to make you experience what skateboarding really is; an incredible sport where there are no other goals other than expressing your creativity and achieving success through hard work, perseverance and bits of madness for no one else other than yourself.

Sporting dual stick controls that mirror the movement of each foot, executing tricks feels as intuitive as it would in your local park, serving up the most authentic-feeling skateboarding in a video game. Included in the demo is a tutorial and outdoor skatepark to get you started. Will it be tough at first? Yeah. Will you fall face-first down a flight of stairs? Who hasn’t? It’s all about the journey, so when you land that first kickflip out of a grind, you’ll feel invincible!

So, what’s Session all about? Just like skateboarding IRL, it’s about the freedom to express yourself. Whether you’re all about perfecting that one elusive move, or have a sick line planned out for your next tape, you set your own goals in Session. Progression simply comes from honing your street chops. But what are skills if you can’t show them off to the rest of the world? With Session, creā-ture offers up the tools needed to create and share your tightest content with skaters around the world.

Whether you have no idea what goofy and mongo mean, or have a laser flip or two under your belt, Session’s here to remind you why you fell in love with the sport or give you a reason to fall for the first time (again, literally).

NACON and Crea-ture Studios have released a new Early Access (Steam, Epic Games Store and Xbox consoles via Xbox Game Preview) update for Session: Skate Sim, taking a major step forward by adding a wide range of new features and improvements, further reinforcing its status as the benchmark for skateboarding simulations.

The developers have been working hard over the last few months to provide the community with the new features and improvements fans have been waiting for. For several years now, the hardworking and enthusiastic team at Crea-ture Studios in Montreal has been working towards their dream: creating a simulation that captures the spirit and reality of skateboarding. The dream has gradually become reality thanks to the team's hard work, NACON's support, and ongoing discussions with the fan community. Over 200,000 players are providing their feedback to the team every day. Based on this feedback, the team decided to push the update back a few months so the requested improvements and new content could be integrated.

“Building blocks are finally getting together and shape up into the vision we always had about this game. Players managed to exploit the early days of our game's physics with success, and we can't wait to see what they will now be able to unlock creatively with this new advanced version. We at Crea-ture Studios are all extremely grateful for their support and really excited to share this update with them all. ” Says Marc-André, founding director of Crea-ture Studios.

This update improves the entire game experience. This includes the character physics, which have been overhauled so that their movements are even more like those of real skateboarders. Combined with Full Body IK (Inverse Kinematics), the animation realism has been fully optimised. The interaction between the board and skateboarder has also been significantly improved to feel more fluid and more like real skating.

The game's open world, which was already extensive, has been expanded with two of the best locations in the world: Jerome Avenue Banks in New York City and FDR Park in Philadelphia. The cities are also now alive with pedestrians and street activity, which further increases the in-game immersion.

Players can explore every corner of these maps as one of the five new skateboarders that have been added: Antiferg, Mark Appleyard, Billy Marks, Manny Santiago and Beagle. This brings the total number of skateboarders to nine.

Four new customisable characters have also been added to the game. In addition to the avatar, players can choose their favourite clothes and brands. Madrid Skateboards, ThankYou Skateboards and Sugar Skate Co. are just a few examples of the iconic brands featured in the game.

For those who like to set themselves challenges, a new mode has been added to improve the game experience. By visiting different neighbourhoods in the Big Apple and Philadelphia, the player can meet other skateboarders to gain access to different missions. Successfully completing new tricks earns street cred and improves reputation with sponsors.

Key Features:

  • All the genuine skateboarding sensations:  realism, immersion and difficulty just like when you first learn to skate... enough to delight skateboard fans.
  • Innovative gameplay: With the dual stick controls, each stick represents one of your feet. You have to think about each movement so you can manage and transfer your weight just like in real life.
  • Official content that will continue to be extended:  currently, 4 pro skaters are available, and the game integrates iconic clothing and skateboard brands that are genuine references for all skateboarders
  • Legendary locations selected by the game's creators: Black Hubbas (New York), Brooklyn Banks (New York), at a 1:1 scale.
  • An ultra-comprehensive video tool: because you need video to prove you've pulled off a perfect stunt, the game has an integrated video editor that includes different filters, several types of cameras, and lots more options that you can explore in-game.

Session: Skate Sim is coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam) in summer 2022.
