'Battle Brothers' Gets Free Of Flesh and Faith DLC Next Month

by Rainier on Feb. 22, 2022 @ 8:53 a.m. PST

Battle Brothers sends players to an open medieval low-fantasy world in which they are tasked to lead a band of up to twenty mercenaries, each coming with individual skills and properties.

Battle Brothers is a turn based tactical RPG which has you leading a mercenary company in a gritty, low-power, medieval fantasy world. You decide where to go, whom to hire or to fight, what contracts to take and how to train and equip your men in a procedurally generated open world campaign. Do you have what it takes to lead them through bloody battles and to victory?

By taking contracts, hunting for treasures and fighting numerous battles band members improve skills, gain experience points and new abilities. In the complex combat mode the strong AI opponents can only be overcome if players make good use of their mercenaries’ individual strengths and the particular terrain of the battle ground.

The game consists of a strategic worldmap and a tactical combat layer. On the worldmap you can freely travel in order to take contracts that earn you good coin, find places worth looting, enemies worth pursuing or towns to resupply and hire men at. This is also where you manage, level up and equip your Battle Brothers. Once you engage a hostile party the game will switch to a tactical map where the actual fighting takes place as detailed turn based combat.

Overhype Studios announced that Battle Brothers will receive a new DLC, 'Of Flesh and Faith', on March 10th  -- a DLC that will be released for free, as a thank you to the loyal community that has been supporting the game for almost 6 years.

Of Flesh and Faith brings two new origins to the game, the Oathtakers and the Anatomists, both with unique mechanics, character backgrounds, story events, and custom-tailored banners -- making them the most detailed origins in the game to date, since this feature was implemented in the game with the release of Warriors of the North.

Along with this new DLC, Battle Brothers will get a sizable update with many quality-of-life features, improvements, and balancing changes -- stay tuned for more details about what is to come. Both the DLC and the update will be released on the console versions as well (PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch) either on March 10th or shortly afterward.

'Of Flesh and Faith' Key Features:

  • Oathtakers – Follow the teachings of Young Anselm, fight for righteousness, and swear oaths that confer advantages and disadvantages until fulfilled.
  • Anatomists – Further your research even if they shun you for it, dissect the corpses of your fallen enemies, and devise new ways to empower your men.
  • New Banners – Hoist two new banners that thematically fit the new origins.
  • New Equipment – Dress in style with new equipment that befits your origin.
  • New Events – Experience more than 50 new events on your travels.
