'Harlow' Gets PC Release Date, Followed By Nintendo Switch Later This Year - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on Feb. 23, 2022 @ 9:17 a.m. PST

Harlow is an atmospheric 2.5D physics-based platformer where you'll use physics to evade the dangers of an ancient planet, gather materials, and plan a party in space.

You're lightyears off-course, low on power, and have one critical goal: throw an epic surprise party so the colonists don't freak out when they defrost.

Meet Harlow, a compact robot aboard the R1-Humanity. Along with Manifesto, the ship's logistics A.I., you'll stockpile supplies and transform the ship from a cold wayward vessel into a stellar celebration to cheer up the cryogenically frozen crew onboard.

Jump, Roll, and Evade! Harlow's physics-based controls will have you navigating oceans of acid, dodging ancient machinery, and traversing lavafalls!

Plan a Surprise Party: Decorate the R1-Humanity with 3D printed party supplies. Unlock different endings based on how you transform the ship!

Created by the founder of Good Trouble, Arman Nobari, a cancer survivor who learned to develop games while recovering from hospitalization, extensive surgery, and grief, Harlow reflects on Arman’s own personal experiences and a desire to create happiness despite hardship.

“Harlow is the culmination of years of hardship, grief, and perseverance,” said Arman Nobari, founder, Good Trouble Games. “After having survived cancer and tragically losing one of my parents, Harlow was the project I used to give myself hope during some of the darkest points in my life. I want Harlow to continue to be a beacon of hope for other cancer survivors which is why I'm dedicating 0.5% of profit generated from Harlow to Cancer for College, an organization that provided me with a scholarship that allowed me to attend college.” Additionally, 0.5% of profit generated by Harlow will go to Black Girls Code. “I believe that good fun can build real change. It's why we operate Good Trouble as a co-op, and why we will give 1% of revenue directly to socially impactful organizations.”

“We originally ran across Harlow while browsing through r/IndieGaming and after reading a bit more about the game and about Arman’s story we knew we had to help make this game become a reality,'' said Rogue’s chief strategy officer, Chris Archer. “Without all the encouraging comments boosting that thread to the top of the Subreddit, we would have never discovered the game, which is why we’re giving away a free copy to every Redditor who commented on Arman’s original post.”

Key Features:

  • Dozens of handcrafted levels — Explore the detail-packed, ancient planet the R1-Humanity orbits.
  • Original soundtrack — With over 1 hour of original tracks, each level, menu, and scene features a wide range of chillhop, synth, and lo-fi music.
  • Refined physics & controls — Bounce, dodge, and solve puzzles with simple, intuitive controls.
  • Stunning visuals — Machinery hisses and clanks. Derelict buildings and foreboding mountains rise up around you. Debris, light, and surroundings react to how you play.

Harlow is coming to PC/Mac (Steam) on March 15, 2022, followed by Nintendo Switch later in 2022.
