Bugsnax takes you on a whimsical adventure to Snaktooth Island, home of the legendary half-bug half-snack creatures, Bugsnax. Invited by intrepid explorer Elizabert Megafig, you arrive to discover your host nowhere to be found, her camp in shambles, and her followers scattered across the island alone... and hungry!
It's up to you to solve the mysteries of Snaktooth Island: What happened to Lizbert? What are Bugsnax and where do they come from? But most of all, why do they taste SO GOOD?
The reveal trailer for Bugsnax features the voices of Max Mittelman (One Punch Man) as “Filbo Fiddlepie”, Helen Sadler as intrepid explorer “Elizabert Megafig”, Tom Taylorson (voice of Octodad) as the Snax in the trailer, and an original track titled “It’s Bugsnax!” from British indie pop sensation Kero Kero Bonito.
The fully voice acted game, featuring over a dozen professional voice actors, carries all of the weirdness and quirkiness that anchored Octodad’s success in 2014.
Young Horses announced that Bugsnax will be arriving on Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows 10, and Steam on April 28th for $24.99 USD with a 20% off discount, while also being available on to Game Pass on Xbox platforms, Windows 10, and Cloud.
That’s not all!
Bugsnax’s free content update, The Isle of Bigsnax, will also arrive on all platforms on the same day, including new trophies and achievements as part of the update.
The Isle of Bigsnax's main campaign includes 3 to 4 hours of new story content - with Yuri Lowenthal, Casey Mongillo, Debra Wilson, and Haviland Stillwell returning to voice their respective grumpuses - and new exciting Bugsnax and mysteries to discover.
Journey to a mysterious new island where the Bugsnax are truly enormous! You’ll need to master new mechanics like the Shrink Spice, which can cut the giant Bugsnax down to a catchable size. Joining you are Chandlo, Floofty, Triffany, and Shelda, who will explore both the island’s long-forgotten history, and more of their own personal stories.
Back in Snaxburg, you’ll finally have your very own hut! You can take on challenges from your mailbox to earn furniture and accessories to customize your living space. These challenges put a few twists in the gameplay, and will shake up how you explore and catch.
And last but not least; capture rare Bughats in order to dress up your favorite Bugsnax.
As you can see, this update is stuffed with a smorgasbord of content for new and returning players alike:
- A new biome to explore.
- A dozen fresh Bugsnax to capture and feed to your friends.
- Over 100 challenges and 30 quests. Nearly 200 decorations to collect and display.
- More delightful dialogue from our returning voice cast.
If you’re a returning player, you can start playing the Isle of BIGsnax by loading your completed save, which will put you back into Snaxburg before the point of no return. For new players, this content will show up organically as you play.
iam8bit will also soon be delivering Bugsnax's delicious soundtrack on vinyl in a special collection. This super-sized two-disc LP includes 25 tracks from composer Seth Parker, stamped on vinyl with drool-worthy colorways.
