The Invincible is a first-person, single-player sci-fi thriller set in a retro-future timeline.

Set in a distant galaxy on the mysterious planet, Regis III, players will take on the role of scientist, Dr. Yasna, and can look forward to multiple story paths and endings in this cinematic adventure thriller. The single-player story of The Invincible will introduce gamers firsthand to the idea that there are places in the Universe that are not only unwelcoming to us as humans, but entirely forbidden.

Inspired by the work of bestselling Science Fiction writer, Stanisław Lem, who has influenced the likes of Futurama’s David X Cohen, The Sims’ Will Wright, and Hideo Kojima, author of Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding, The Invincible will plunge players onto a distant planet Regis III set in atompunk aesthetics. The story takes place in an alternative retro-future timeline, where digital technology has not been invented, nor has The Cold War ended. Although humanity uses analog technology, it has conquered vast amounts of planets and ventured into many other galaxies thanks to it.

Waking up as a space scientist on a hostile planet, you embark on a mysterious mission to find the missing crew of your spaceship. Survival is a matter of your correct choices, taken whilst uncovering the secrets of the planet, bigger than anyone thought.

You are a scientist onboard an interstellar scientific expedition, suddenly thrown into a life-or-death rescue mission. Landing on a planet Regis III you have to find the missing crew members using some advanced space equipment, whilst relying on your brains and instincts to survive on the planet which quickly occurs to be unwelcoming. Soon you’ll discover that Regis III holds terrifying secrets which are uncovered while you’re piecing together the fate of your crew. And as you delve deeper into the mystery, you realise that perhaps you are not alone, and that some places like this planet are better left untouched. But it’s too late to turn back.

Developer Starward Industries and publisher 11 bit studios revealed that The Invincible will be making its way to PC and consoles next year while presenting its gameplay for the very first time.

Starward Industries will be joining in a publishing partnership with 11 bit studios to bring this stunning project to players around the globe.

Step into the role of sharp-witted astrobiologist Yasna, as she awakens on the hostile surface of a distant planet and is thrust into a life-or-death rescue mission. On Regis III—uninhabited by humans and unexplored—she’ll be faced with the daunting task of finding the missing crew members of an interstellar scientific expedition which ended suddenly, far from home and alone. Diving deeper into the mystery of her missing colleagues and noticing the appearance of mind-bending scientific phenomena, it soon becomes apparent that Regis III may hold terrifying secrets on its dusty surface. Unable to turn back, struggling with unexpected choices and their consequences, Yasna is forced to rethink not only her own but many of mankind's ambitions and biases in this daring expedition.

The Invincible, brought to life with a retro-futuristic aesthetic, is based on the environments built inside the pages of the iconic novel of the same name by world-famous science-fiction author Stanislaw Lem. 11 bit studios is excited to add this philosophical, hard sci-fi, atompunk adventure to its expanding publishing portfolio. Additionally, both companies have come to an agreement that 11 bit studios will become minority shareholders in Starward Industries.

“When many of us were teenagers, Lem gave us a vision of the future that felt surreal. And as a reader, I couldn’t imagine the world of The Invincible being more tangible than the one portrayed in the game. As a Polish publisher on a mission to showcase meaningful entertainment, we couldn’t pass by the opportunity to take on a game based on such an important piece of Polish cultural heritage as Lem’s book”, said Marek Ziemak, External Development Director at 11 bit studios.
