by Rainier on June 7, 2022 @ 9:28 a.m. PDT

In Firegirl, an action rescue platformer with roguelite elements, players take on the role of a young fire rescue officer breathing new life into her rundown local fire station.

Armed with a trusty ax and high-pressure fire hose that doubles as a jetpack, you'll respond to emergency calls across a procedurally generated city.

When Firegirl arrives on the scene, she has three minutes to save all civilians caught in the blaze! Feats of bravery and other gameplay features can be leveraged to extend your rescue time, ensuring you complete your mission. In a mystery that goes all the way to the top, uncover the truth of why these fires have engulfed the city.

Douse roaring flames, chop through obstacles, extinguish dastardly pyro-monsters, and use your hose to boost your jumps and reach high places to find all sorts of extra goodies. Hang out at the Firehouse between missions to upgrade your equipment, hire new staff, pay any bills you've accrued, and hear from your ever-growing fanbase after your heroic exploits. Working at a top fire rescue station isn't a cake walk, and you'll need all the help you can get to prepare for the next fires about to break out!

Firegirl fuses retro and modern sensibilities, mixing pixel art with 3D visuals and next-gen rendering techniques like dynamic lighting to create a wholly unique look and feel.

Thunderful Publishing & developer Dejima announced that Firegirl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue DX is making its way onto PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch on June 22nd, with the PC version of the game to be updated to the DX version on the same day.

Firegirl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue DX is an overhauled and rebalanced version of the game that hit PC late last year.

It offers new enemies, reworked environments, a rebalanced difficulty curve, a streamlined upgrade tree, improved level design and much more. Thanks to these tweaks, a play style focused on extinguishing enemies is now more viable, with players now receiving more additional time for extinguishing fiery foes. Players will find that exits are now easier to discover, water refills will be more readily available when they are running low and the income system has been rebuilt from the ground up.

“The original release of Firegirl on PC gave us invaluable feedback on how we could improve the experience significantly ahead of a console release,” said Julien Ribassin, founder of Dejima. “With the completely reworked and rebalanced version of the game that is Firegirl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue DX, we’ve kept everything that was great about the original version and reworked the wrinkles to provide a definitive version of the game. Look forward to it on June 22nd.”

Currently available for PC (Steam), Firegirl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue DX is coming to Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S on June 22, 2022.
