This new music label will publish Microids games’ original music scores and will initiate some collaborations with artists and composers from various music styles.
Additionally, the creation of this new music label coincides with the launch of Microids group’s Entertainment division, geared towards the management of numerous projects would they be musical, audiovisual or merchandising. Frédéric Claquin (former executive from French national TV station TF1, ARTitude creato,… ), producer and independent publisher for more than two decades will helm this new division.
In 2021, Microids group reported a turnover of more than 55 million dollars, resulting from the expansion strategy that was initiated a few years back. This strategy relies on the signing of popular IPs known worldwide (Agatha Christie, Grendizer, Garfield, The Smurfs…), as well as strengthening its international footprint thanks to a powerful network of distribution partners and the opening of representation offices in key territories such as Germany, Japan and China. This expansion is also illustrated by the company’s increasing diversification like partnering with licensed figurine specialist Plastoy, and today with the launch of its Entertainment division and the music label Microids Records.
The original soundtracks from Syberia 2 and Syberia 3, composed by the renown composer Inon Zur (Fallout, Dragon Age, Prince of Persia…), will be the first two albums to join Microids Records’ catalog.
“Microids Records and the new Entertainment Division are testaments of Microids’ willingness to develop the company’s brands and contents wider than the video game medium”, declares Frédéric Claquin, VP Entertainment at Microids. “Being able to launch this label with two original scores signed by Inon Zur is a blessing and a true honor, especially as we celebrate the Syberia series’ 20 th anniversary! »
“The creation of this music label by a long-time partner like Microids is a clear sign that music is a crucial aspect of their game development process” says Inon Zur. “As an artist and composer, I can only welcome this wonderful initiative with open arms”.
“This music label launch is a major milestone for Microids” adds Stéphane Longeard, CEO of Microids. “We have always had at heart to offer music scores enhancing the games we are creating and paying tribute to our great IPS, collaborating with renown artists like Inon Zur for instance. We are fully aware about the importance of a great musical atmosphere for players, and we cannot wait to share what will be released next under the Microids Records label!”
