'Jurassic World Evolution 2' Late Cretaceous Pack Planned For Later This Week - Trailer

by Rainier on Sept. 13, 2022 @ 12:38 p.m. PDT

Based on Universal Pictures’ film franchise, Jurassic World Evolution 2 builds upon the dinosaur park management simulation, offering players a thrilling front seat as they take charge of their own Jurassic World park.

Following the roaring success of Jurassic World Evolution, the sequel offers players an original Campaign mode, expanded construction options, more customization choices and the all-new Chaos Theory mode in which they can play through ’what if’ scenarios from all five films in the Jurassic World franchise from Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment.

No longer contained to the Muertes Islands, Jurassic World Evolution 2 unfolds across distinct environments ranging from dense forests and rocky deserts to sun-drenched tropics, each with its own unique terrain and environmental challenges. In Campaign mode, players can immerse themselves in an original Jurassic World story following the events of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. With the help of Claire Dearing (voiced by Bryce Dallas Howard) and Dr. Ian Malcolm (voiced by Jeff Goldblum), players will help lead the efforts of the DFW (Department of Fish and Wildlife) across the continental U.S. establishing new facilities across a range of locations in order to control, conserve and contain wild dinosaurs.

Another standout addition to Jurassic World Evolution 2 is the all-new Chaos Theory mode. Here, players can revisit pivotal moments from the Jurassic World film franchise and add their own mark in a range of ‘what if’ scenarios. Whether realizing John Hammond’s dream of an operational Jurassic Park, showcasing a T. rex in the San Diego Amphitheatre, or building and running their own Jurassic World with the support of iconic characters such as Dr. Henry Wu (voiced by BD Wong), players can experience events from their favorite films like never before as they find themselves at the helm of managing new challenges and altering outcomes.

The latest PDLC arriving for the critically acclaimed Jurassic World Evolution 2, the Jurassic World Evolution 2: Late Cretaceous Pack invites players to enhance their parks with four exhilarating prehistoric species inspired by one of the most fascinating periods of dinosaur history.

Barbaridactylus, a flying hunter that lived towards the end of the era, takes its name from the Barbary Coast of North Africa, near to where it was discovered. With its magnificent head crest, Barbaridactylus will make a distinctive addition to even the most diverse of dinosaur parks. The extraordinary Alamosaurus, one of the largest dinosaurs ever to walk the earth, is also sure to impress. Its enormous size and huge defensive spines make this gargantuan herbivore a challenge for attacking predators.

While smaller in stature, Australovenator is equally as mesmerising. Characterized by a lightweight frame, extremely sharp teeth, and the ability to grab its prey with both claws, this speedy 6.5-foot carnivore is not to be underestimated. In addition, players can welcome the striking Styxosaurus to their lagoons, complete with three entrancing bioluminescent pattern colors that will transfix park guests. This ultra-streamlined marine reptile combines its sleek shape with large fins and powerful jaws to formidable effect.

The PDLC launches alongside an exciting free update that brings existing players a range of new features and enhancements. This includes the chance to get creative with new lagoon customization options, including placeable objects both above and below the water. Adding even more realism and presenting an extra challenge for park managers, escaped flying reptiles will now be able to cause damage to nearby helicopters. Players can also enjoy several quality-of-life updates including the ability to attribute negative traits, enjoy infinite trait points in Sandbox mode and explore new lighting color options to add to their parks.

Jurassic World Evolution 2: Late Cretaceous Pack and free content update #4 will be available on available September 15, 2022 for £5.99/$7.99/€7.99, and requires the Jurassic World Evolution 2 base game to download and play.

UPDATE 4 Details

We've got a lot of exciting additions and features coming in Update 4, a free update for everyone who owns Jurassic World Evolution 2, including both quality of life updates and bug fixes. Keep reading to find out more!

LAGOON CUSTOMISATION & DECORATION

You'll be able to experience a new range of customization for your Lagoons in Update 4, with brand new decorations which can be placed around the edges and on the bottoms of all Lagoons! These include a Lagoon Fountain, Lagoon Cages, Lagoon Rocks and Lagoon Coral, amongst other decorative items. In order to ensure that you're able to enjoy these new decorations as much as possible, we've also incorporated various Quality of Life updates for Lagoons, including improving the clarity of Lagoon water and viewing stand glass so that there's a clearer look into the Lagoon water itself. You'll also be able to move the game camera into the water of Lagoons, allowing you to fully appreciate your decorative handiwork.

BEHAVIOUR CHANGES

Update 4 also features additions to both flying and marine reptile behaviors that will change the way they act within your park. The first of these changes is one your Capture Teams are likely to notice quite quickly - certain escaped flying reptiles will now attack Capture Team helicopters! You'll notice there is now a condition bar above your Capture Teams, which will be impacted when under attack by a flying reptile. Once this bar runs out, the Capture Team will be destroyed, and you will need to purchase replacement teams.

With this update, you'll also see a change to how your marine reptiles behave when they're uncomfortable: they'll begin attacking the walls of your Lagoon when they're unhappy, and can become injured during this process, so make sure you're meeting their needs to avoid this unwelcome outcome!

We'll also be making some adjustments to dinosaur cohabitation preferences in the new update, adding Likes relationships between both Hadrosaurid and Ceratopsids and Ornithomimosaurids and Ceratopsids. Ceratopsids can now cohabit with other Ceratopsids, too, although there will be some exceptions to this.

BUILDING DECORATIONS

This latest update will allow you to see some exciting new changes to how you decorate your dinosaur park, with brand new amenity and attraction building decorations now available. These include several new planters and even some new fountains that you'll be able to add to the outside of these buildings to offer more control over your amenity and attraction's look and feel.

Whilst we're on the topic of lights, Update 4 also brings with it the ability to change the color of decorative lights throughout your park, using a new Lighting tab within the Decorations panel. This new subsection will highlight all of the available decorations which contain editable lights, and you'll also notice a new 'Edit Light Color' mode that allows you to quickly and easily paint lights across the park. Your gameplay will automatically switch over to night time whilst you're doing this, for ease!

POSTCARDS AND STAMPS

Wishing you could write home about your Jurassic World Evolution 2 creations? Look no further than the brand new overlay options we're bringing you with Update 4: Capture Mode will now be home to 6 new postcard overlays and 4 new stamp overlays, allowing you to share your dinosaur park in an entirely new and exciting way.

ADDITIONAL SANDBOX SETTINGS

There are a number of quality of life changes coming to Sandbox Mode in Update 4, allowing for even greater freedom in designing your very own Jurassic World. Not only have we redesigned Sandbox Settings to make them more readable, but your custom settings will also save between sessions, so you can play the way you want to every single time.

You'll also notice that Update 4 brings with it more sandbox options around dinosaur Traits when Gene Editing, including the ability to create negative Traits, the ability to have infinite Traits, and the ability to have infinite Trait points, and there are new Cohabitation settings for Normal, All Like, or No Dislike, too, allowing you even more freedom in how you build your Jurassic World.

Finally, we've also included an Instant Construction/Destruction setting, meaning no more waiting for new buildings or attractions!

For those looking to unleash their creativity, Sandbox mode offers players all the tools they need to create their ultimate Jurassic Park or Jurassic World dinosaur park. Challenge mode allows players to truly test their management skills in a range of different missions with escalating difficulty, attempting to achieve the best park rating in the shortest amount of time.

Jurassic World Evolution 2 features more than 75 breathtaking prehistoric species to discover, including highly requested flying and marine reptiles, and returning community-favorite dinosaurs. These majestic species feel more alive than ever as they preside over territory and display brand-new behaviors when interacting with each other, fighting for dominance and reacting intelligently to the world around them. Through bioengineering, players can customize their dinosaurs with bold new colors and patterns and alter their genomes to discover new traits to unlock as they endeavor to create the ultimate dinosaur park destination.

Jurassic World Evolution 2 is available for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC (Steam / Epic Games Store) for £49.99/$59.99/€59.99.
