The Game Awards 2023 Nominees Lead By Alan Wake 2 and Baldur’s Gate 3, Fans Can Start Voting Now

The Game Awards 2023 highlights the cultural significance of video games with awards, world premieres, musical performances and other surprises.

The Game Awards, the video game industry’s year-end celebration, today revealed its 2023 nominees with Alan Wake 2 and Baldur’s Gate 3 leading the industry with 8 nominations each. Celebrating the video game industry’s most innovative games, studios and creatives of 2023, this year’s impressive list of nominees includes 112 different games, individuals, teams and events spanning a multitude of gaming genres and platforms.

This year’s Game of the Year nominees are Alan Wake 2 from Remedy Entertainment, Baldur’s Gate 3 from Larian Studios, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 from Insomniac Games, Resident Evil 4 from Capcom, Super Mario Bros. Wonder from Nintendo, and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom from Nintendo.

Following the introduction of the Best Adaptation category in 2022, the crossover between games and entertainment continues to deepen. This year the following films and streaming shows are nominated for Best Adaptation: Castlevania: Nocturne (Netflix), Gran Turismo (Sony Pictures), The Last of Us (HBO), The Super Mario Bros. Movie (Illumination/Universal Pictures), and Twisted Metal (Peacock).

Nintendo is The Game Awards’ most nominated publisher in 2023 with 15 nominations across its combined portfolio, followed by Sony Interactive Entertainment/PlayStation with 13 nominations, Xbox (inclusive of Bethesda and Blizzard) with 10, and Epic Games, the most nominated third party publisher, with 9. The nominees for The Game Awards are selected by a global jury of over 100 media publications and influencer outlets from around the world.

In 2022, The Game Awards delivered a record-setting 103 million livestreams. The Game Awards 2023, the 10th annual global celebration of the video game industry, will livestream for free across more than 30 different digital video platforms including YouTube, Twitch, Steam, Facebook, TikTok Live, X, WeChat Bilibili, Huya, DouYu, Xiaohongshu and Instagram Live. 

For the second year, viewers can participate in The Game Awards via the award show’s official Discord server, including the ability to vote for The Game Awards 2023 nominees in the weeks leading up to the show. Additionally, Discord members can join the live watch party on December 7th to watch the awards show and react to the winners in real time. 

From today through December 6th at 6 pm PT, fans will be able to help choose the winners in all categories via authenticated online voting on www.thegameawards.com and the official Discord server for The Game Awards using the official TGA Voting Bot. In China, fans can vote for their favorites on Bilibili, WeChat, and Xiaohongshu.

This year The Game Awards is teaming up with Twitch for Twitch Predicts The Game Awards – a new extension where you can lock in your bracket of what you think will win big at The Game Awards on December 7. Any co-streamer can install the extension through their Dashboard and have their community vote right away. Viewers can click the extension logo in any eligible stream to cast votes. 

The Game Awards will air live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Thursday, December 7, 2023, with awards, world premiere new game announcements, and spectacular musical performances by The Game Awards Orchestra, conducted by Lorne Balfe. Tickets to attend The Game Awards in-person can be purchased on AXS.com.
