'Slave Zero X' Adds One Piece, Naruto, Persona 5 And Westworld Voice Actor Talent - Trailer

by Rainier on Dec. 7, 2023 @ 9:43 a.m. PST

Slave Zero X is a stylish 2.5D character action game set in the biopunk world of 1999's Slave Zero.

Run & Slash your way through a dystopian future in this character action game which will resonate with fans of Devil May Cry, Strider, and Guilty Gear. Slave Zero X features 2D side-scrolling action where players string together brutal combos while traversing a dangerous 2.5D world.

From the top of Megacity S1-9, the Sovereign Khan rules with fists of iron and flesh. Beneath the city’s rotting foundations, a vengeful warrior embarks on a journey to murder him. 4 years prior to the events of Slave Zero, Slave Zero X brings new life to a world where horrific, living machines known as Slaves are primed to become the latest tools of war in humanity’s long and bloody history. A secret band of warriors known as The Guardians hope to stop these biomecha from being unleashed upon the world, but one swordsman among their ranks has a different idea: use the enemy’s own weapon against them. By merging with a stolen Slave Unit Prototype, Shou will become a furious Devil in pursuit of killing a false God.

In development by Poppy Works and Ziggurat Interactive, Slave Zero X will bring a whole new experience to fans of the original game. In Slave Zero X, players will don a death-dealing biosuit and do battle against the forces of the evil SovKhan. The game will feature multiple gameplay modes, and a variety of futuristic dystopian urban levels to battle through.

This new entry in the franchise is based on the concept drawings for the 1999 Dreamcast and PC game. With a biopunk flare and H.R Giger influence, the original vision for Slave Zero couldn’t come to fruition due to budget and development time. Now, Poppyworks with Ziggurat Interactive, bring that original vision to life in this fast-paced, hard-hitting, character action game in the unforgettable dystopian world of Slave Zero X.

Today, Ziggurat reveals two new voice talents joining the fray: Jamieson Price, known for his work in Persona 5, Shazam! (2019), HBO’s Westworld, and Hidekatsu Shibata, known for Fairy Tale, Fullmetal Alchemist, One Piece, Naruto, and many more.

The actors are voicing the vicious and power-hungry character SovKhan (Sovereign Khan) in English and Japanese, respectively.

Jamieson Price — SovKhan (English):

Jamieson Price is an American actor renowned for his resonant and commanding voice and has gained acclaim for his roles in various anime and video games. Recognized as the voice behind characters such as the Count of Monte Cristo in Gankutsuou, Sojiro Sakura in Persona 5, Ovan in .hack//G.U., as well as Galbalan and Milton Grimm from Ever After High, now Jamieson brings his talent to the futuristic dystopian hellscape of Slave Zero™ X as the tyrannical leader The Sovereign Khan, Lu Chen.

Hidekatsu Shibata — SovKhan (Japanese):

Hidekatsu Shibata is a supremely accomplished voice actor with decades of experience and over 100 voice roles to his name. His prolific roles are voicing Monkey D. Dragon in One Piece, King Bradley in Fullmetal Alchemist, Sarutobi (The Third Hokage) in Naruto, and dozens of others. Hidekatsu’s powerful, all-encompassing vocal talent captures the sheer authority seeping from The SovKhan’s very being, making him the perfect choice in portraying this ruthless ruler.

The SovKhan is the supreme ruler of Megacity S1-9 and a self-proclaimed God, ruling over the inhabitants with fists of iron and death. At nearly 200 years old, SovKhan has immeasurable knowledge and strength, leading him to be feared and revered by the city’s inhabitants. Age and unparalleled power have distanced him from his sense of humanity, freeing him to subject the masses of the Megacity and its surrounding territories to unspeakable cruelty in pursuit of ascending to Godhood. Though not sadistic, he is fundamentally out of touch with reality — caring for nothing other than perfecting the limits of his capabilities and his ultimate ascension to divinity.

A playable demo is available now on Steam and GOG, and for Xbox consoles
