by Rainier on March 15, 2023 @ 11:36 a.m. PDT

Infernax is a demon-bashing action adventure which coats a classically inspired fight against unholy magic with splatters of gore.

Infernax follows Alcedor, a famed knight who discovers an unholy magic has spread throughout his land while he was away. Armed with a skull-splitting mace and a trusty shield, Alcedor vows to obliterate the grotesque beasts roaming his home in an epic side-scrolling quest recalling the essence of classically difficult action adventure games.

Alcedor gains experience and gold vital for obtaining powerups as he slaughters foes, leveling up stats and earning new skills and weapons to help paint the screen red with blocky splatters of blood. Morality-testing decisions made during his quest prompt consequences later in the adventure and influence which of the game’s multiple endings players witness. Infernax’s open world-style design is packed with secrets awaiting discovery by its most kickass players, offering a satisfying reward for those skilled enough to endure a brutal challenge.

Smash as many monsters as you can to get some money, spend your savings to buy better weapons and armors from the blacksmith, gear up and get stronger for this journey of smashing even more faces!

Every choice you make open up different side quests to obtain powerful weapons and skills or money

Storm the Castle and slay their bosses before more innocent fall to the mysterious curse that plagues your land. In the end, only you can rid the land of Upel of these monsters, whichever way you decide to do it; you do you, dude...

Developer Berzerk Studio and publisher The Arcade Crew announced that Infernax: Deux or Die, the free multiplayer update adding a new playable character, simultaneous co-operative play, and dual warrior-swapping, demon-bashing action for single players, will release on April 5 for PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Infernax: Deux or Die is also playable on PlayStation 5 via backward compatibility.

Infernax: Deux or Die’s first extended gameplay begins the blood-spilling of hellish beasts early, offering an uninterrupted look at how Infernax’s entire experience has been rebalanced for two heroes (or villains) to tear through its hordes of demonic forces side by side.

The update will bring a new playable character into the fray: Cervul the Squire, a well-rounded lad who sports deadly talents in both axe throwing and tool-assisted combat. Cervul the Squire’s attacks and buffs grant advantages to either or both players - unless he’s steered down the dark path that is, in which case players will unlock an entirely different side of Cervul. Sinister choices will inspire an emphasized focus on dealing damage with distinct tools and a more… explosive playstyle.

Infernax: Deux or Die also incorporates co-op play in Infernax’s fan-favorite gun mode, perfect for players keen on wielding maximum firepower against the game’s monstrous beasts. This Contra-style homage is unlocked through the classic “Konami” code - and with the addition of a second action hero, will now feature a redesigned starting screen that old-school players will find instantly recognizable.

Key Features:

  • Multi-endings based on player's decisions.
  • Challenging castle-dungeons and lots of boss battles.
