The new high-speed, open-zone platforming gameplay gives players the freedom to explore the Starfall Islands any way they choose at speeds only Sonic can deliver with no pre-determined path. Sonic Frontiers is a massive leap for the franchise, taking Sonic into the future of 3D action games with an all-new playable world map, while paying homage to previous, beloved titles. In the dangerous and vast world of Sonic Frontiers, anything is possible, and players will have the freedom to explore the visually stunning, open-zone realm.
The Starfall Islands are filled with diverse environments, ancient structures, and mysterious secrets, with each zone offering their own unique activities including platforming, combat, puzzles, side quests, Cyber Space and more. These features can be played in any order to match your play style.
Developed by the experienced members of SEGA’s Sonic Team Japan, led by producer Sachiko Kawamura and director Morio Kishimoto, Sonic Frontiers will bring Sonic fans an all-new type of Sonic experience.
SEGA announced that Sonic Frontiers’ first content update of 2023 – Sights, Sounds, and Speed – will release Wednesday, March 22 at 5:00 p.m. PDT / 8:00 p.m. EDT across Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam).
The Sights, Sounds, and Speed Update is the first of three content updates slated for this year and adds new features including a Jukebox, Photo Mode and new challenge modes.

- New Challenge Modes - After completing the main story campaign, players can access new challenge modes – Cyber Space Challenge and Battle Rush – via the title screen. The Cyber Space Challenge is a time-attack mode where players will compete against the clock to complete multiple Cyber Space stages in a row. Additionally, Sonic Frontiers will offer Battle Rush, a timed-battle mode where you fight multiple enemies, Guardians and Titans in one go.
- Photo Mode - To capture memories of their time on the Starfall Islands, players can open the pause menu to access Photo Mode, which will pause gameplay and bring up a camera that is freely moveable.
- Jukebox - Players can listen to their favorite Sonic songs all throughout the Starfall Islands with the new Jukebox. With 53 song tracks available, players will have instant access to 13 songs, and can unlock the remaining 40 songs by collecting Sound Memories on each island.

Sonic Frontiers is available for Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam) at $59.99 USD and will be supported with Smart Delivery on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.
