The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is the first video game to be born out of the new fellowship forged between Daedalic Entertainment and Middle-earth Enterprises, with scope for more new experiences in the future, offering a brand-new perspective, all the while staying true to the vision laid out in The Lord of the Rings.
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is a story-driven action adventure, where players take on the role of Gollum to win back his precious lost ring. They have to climb, jump and sneak through dangerous areas, avoid getting caught and try to keep the upper hand. Gollum is skillful and sly, but also torn by his split personality. The Lord of the Rings: Gollum tells of Gollum’s experiences from behind-the-scenes in the first chapters of The Fellowship of the Ring.
After losing his precious ring to Bilbo Baggins, Gollum decides to leave the Misty Mountains and embark on a perilous journey that leads him from the dungeons of Barad-dûr to the realm of the Wood-elves in Mirkwood. In order to survive the dangers of his journey through Middle-earth, Gollum has to sneak and climb and use all his cunning. He also has to deal with his Hobbit-self - Sméagol. It’s up to the players if they want Gollum to have the upper hand when it comes to making important decisions, or if they prefer to allow Sméagol to take over. Gollum also encounters well-known characters from the books as well as a few new faces.
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will be powered by Unreal Engine and localized into multiple languages so that fans from across the globe will be able to enjoy this new action adventure.
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is coming to Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S in 2023.
