'The Sims 4' Reaches 70 Million Players, Gets Greenhouse Haven And Basement Treasures Kits This Week

by Rainier on April 18, 2023 @ 9:31 a.m. PDT

The Sims 4 celebrates the heart and soul of the Sims themselves, giving players a deeper connection with the most expressive, surprising and charming Sims ever in this single-player offline experience.

The Sims 4 encourages players to personalize their world with new and intuitive tools while offering them the ability to effortlessly share their creativity with friends and fans.

The Sims 4 brings all new ways to play with life; powerful new creative tools, all-new Sims with enhanced emotion and intelligence, and a gaming experience where players control the mind, body and heart of their Sims to bring their stories to life like never before.

EA and Maxis revealed The Sims 4 Greenhouse Haven Kit and The Sims 4 Basement Treasures Kit, available for PC via EA app, Mac via Origin, Epic Games Store and Steam, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One on April 20, 2023.

With The Sims 4 Greenhouse Haven Kit and The Sims 4 Basement Treasures Kit, players will have the opportunity to create well loved spaces that are bright, open and bursting with greenery or filled with lived-in furniture and sentimental decor.

From an idyllic plant playhouse fit for any gardening lover to a basement hangout full of loved furniture passed down throughout the years, now is the perfect time to create your escape from the busy world in The Sims™ 4.

Sims can weave their way through a cluttered greenhouse or relax alone amongst the foliage with The Sims 4 Greenhouse Haven Kit, which has something for every Sim with or without a green thumb in this new, dedicated gardening space.

With beautiful glass pane windows and doors that fit together seamlessly, Sims can design the greenhouse of their dreams, decorating their space with a plethora of gardening objects, including starter seedlings, stacks of pots, a planting table, hanging flower baskets and much more.

The Sims 4 Basement Treasures Kit encourages Sims to create the classic hand-me-down basement room, challenging Sims to deviate from the pristine and embrace the imperfect with grungy and aged decor. From Grandma’s old, worn furniture to thrifting finds, every piece has a story and potential for new life.

From stains to soils and everyday wear and tear, there is comfort in the flawed, passed down and lived in. Life is for living - and Sims can walk down memory lane with a milk crate of vinyl records, old trophies and family photos, worn trunks and more. Items like an older model TV (still functional but not in its prime) and dusty trinkets add to the grungy space, with these lived-in items creating a comfortable basement.

Maxis also shared that The Sims 4 now reaches more than 70 million players around the world.

Since its launch in 2014, The Sims 4 continues to serve as a digital platform for millions of players to discover and connect with ideas, experiences, and versions of themselves without boundaries, both in-game and real life. Following The Sims 4 base game becoming available to all new players to download for free in October 2022, more than 16 million new players have downloaded the game to date and average weekly users has increased 53-percent.

The Sims 4 has also since experienced global expansion with 75-percent of new unique players based outside of North America in growth areas including Brazil, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Poland. Newly acquired players have enthusiastically jumped into the game’s catalog of more than 60 packs and kits. Additionally, there has been a significant increase in downloads of user generated content from the gallery since The Sims 4 base game became free, with more than 7 million gallery downloads in-game in the past week alone.

“It’s incredible to see how much our community has grown over the past eight years, and our players continue to inspire us with the countless ways they explore life in The Sims 4,” said Phillip Ring, Executive Producer of The Sims 4. “We know The Sims 4 continues to be a creative outlet for people, and our team strives to deliver new and innovative gameplay content that empowers our players to embrace the chaos that comes with self-discovery.”

The team at Maxis is more dedicated than ever to developing new and meaningful experiences for The Sims 4’s growing user base, and recently delivered its most successful expansion pack launch week to date with The Sims 4 Growing Together

The launch week - March 16-23, 2023 - saw more sales for Growing Together than any other expansion pack launch week since The Sims 4 started releasing packs in 2015. This latest expansion packintroduced highly requested gameplay features centered around family dynamics, new life stages and milestones as players experience new chapters in their Sims’ lives. Following the release of the expansion pack and the free base game update featuring the infant life stage, players have created more than 8.6 million Sims infants in-game, built 1.7 million new households in the pack’s world of San Sequoia, and players have achieved 27.1 million milestones across all platforms – including 12.2 million infant milestones.

The Sims 4 is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam and Origin).
