Starbreeze In Negotiations To License IP For A New Cooperative Multiplayer Game

by Rainier on May 22, 2023 @ 1:19 a.m. PDT

The agreement is expected to give Starbreeze the right to use the licensed IP to produce a new game within Starbreeze's core genre cooperative multiplayer games with long life

The IP is an iconic brand characterized by collaborative experiences and storytelling in an expansive world, which Starbreeze intends to use as a base in the production of a cooperative multiplayer game. The IP in question is a so-called cross-media IP and has been used, among other things, as the base for games, computer games, books and short stories as well as feature films.

Starbreeze publishes this information due to the impending rights issue and the prospectus which is expected to be published around May 26, 2023.

Starbreeze intends to act as both developer and publisher of the title. A final agreement presupposes satisfactory contractual terms for both parties regarding, but not limited to, any advance payment of the license fee as well as the calculation model for the license fee based on the game's revenue after market launch.

The game is expected to have a development and marketing budget estimated to exceed USD 45-50 million, including the first 18 months of live service.

The yet unannounced game is scheduled to launch in late 2025 or early 2026.
