'Ripout' Promises There Is No Safe Place in Space, Shows Off Environments & Hazardous Obstacles - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on June 9, 2023 @ 10:34 a.m. PDT

Ripout is a co-op horror first-person shooter where you fight your way through alien infested ships with friends and a Living Pet Gun.

Powered by Unreal Engine,Ripout explores humanity’s fight for survival thousands of miles away from Earth in the not-so-distant future.

The game is set in the 21st century after humanity reached beyond Earth to conquer the solar system. The golden age of humanity began, but it would quickly turn disastrous. Alien forces emerged and Earth’s habitants had to find a way to keep them at bay. After genetically engineering a powerful but dangerous bioweapon to fend off alien invaders, humanity falls victim to its own creation. The cell turned sentient, causing those soldiers to transform into mutants.

You wake up in the year 2084 as one of the last surviving Earth’s soldiers, the fate of humanity resting in your hands. Will you preserve mankind’s legacy or will our race end up consumed by the sentient Cell?

Ripout is an online co-op horror FPS with elements of sci-fi. The game features procedurally generated missions with scaling difficulty, a living Pet Gun that accompanies the player and engages in combat against alien mutants, weapon and player customization, and much more. All of this is available against the backdrop of spaceships that are home to some of the most dangerous creatures. Players need to fight their way through these spaceships, undertake missions, and try to be one step ahead of humanity’s number one enemy.

Ripout provides a great co-op experience where team play comes first. Fearless and gifted players and their friends are needed to stop cosmic horrors from taking over the world and infecting all living forms.

Your task is to fight off these mutants and save humanity.

This new trailer showcases the haunting environments awaiting players and their trusty Pet Gun as they explore procedurally generated derelict ships where monsters lie in wait, danger lurks around every turn, and even ordinary objects can turn into lethal surprises!

Highlighted features in the trailer include:

  • Hazardous Levels: Players will discover a variety of levels, some on the verge of collapse, requiring platforming skills to traverse safely. Interactive machinery like retractable bridges offer new paths, but may draw hordes of monsters. Vents provide a claustrophobic challenge, as players are pursued relentlessly by smaller creatures.
  • Robots: Decommissioned robots may malfunction and become hostile. Avoiding contact with these hulking metal machines is often the safest way forward. Stealthily approach and deactivate them to gain resource rewards, or destroy them from a safe distance.
  • Mimic Chairs: Unassuming chairs become lurking enemies, mimicking ordinary seats while patiently awaiting their prey. Players must stay vigilant, promptly identifying and eliminating these mimics before they strike.
  • Mimic Doors: Even opening doors can become a tense experience, as monsters mimic doors until revealing themselves, armed with deadly close-range attacks and rifle fire. Players must utilize all available resources to combat these formidable adversaries.
  • Turrets: Derelict ships are equipped with dangerous turrets that can scan rooms, detect players, and unleash deadly firepower. Players can choose to dismantle them with precise shots or employ the Pet Gun's ferocious attack to tear them apart.
  • Steam Pipes: As ships crumble under pressure, ruptured steam pipes release scalding heat into the surroundings. Players must navigate these hazardous areas, either by avoiding the steam or cautiously ducking underneath to ensure safe passage.
  • Auxiliary Segments: Auxiliary Segments are special doors that hold valuable loot, guarded by locks and turrets. Players are encouraged to keep a keen eye out for these unique entrances while exploring, as the rewards they contain are well worth the effort.

Key Features:

  • Cooperative PVE Gameplay: Embark on a variety of missions and explore derelict ships alone or in teams of up to 4 players.
  • High Variety of Reconfigurable Monsters: Fight genetically altered beings who are able to strengthen and reconfigure themselves by attaching smaller mutants to their bodies. The player will never know what to expect from their enemies!
  • Living Pet Gun: Stand your ground using your trusty Pet Gun and harness the power of the sentient biotech yourself and turn it against your foe.
  • Weapon Modifications and Character Classes: Customize your weapon and choose between multiple character specializations to find the perfect mix for your playstyle.
  • Quick, Action-Packed Missions: Explore countless derelict ships in various short, 10–20-minute missions and prepare for the unexpected; you’ll never know what horrors lurk around the corner.
  • Procedurally Generated Levels: Enjoy endless replayability and suspense, thanks to our procedurally generated level design.
  • Scalable Difficulty: Expect a challenge for teams of all sizes, thanks to Ripout's scaling difficulty.
  • A cozy hub ship: Players can take a break after a long shooting fiesta. Play some arcade minigames from the 80s and get ready for another randomly generated mission.

Set off on a once-in-a-lifetime journey through space in search of human survivors. Sanctuary holds the key. But where is it? And, most importantly, what is it?

Ripout is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam) in 2023.
