EA Sports Madden NFL 24 features the next evolution of FieldSENSE and the debut of SAPIEN Technology. SAPIEN delivers a leap forward in NFL realism by rebuilding the character skeleton to provide more body definition and variation to physiques on the field. SAPIEN makes characters more human and anatomically correct, improving authentic athletic motion and with FieldSENSE, creates true-to-life movement patterns on the gridiron. 

Dozens of improvements to foundational football elevate the Madden NFL 24 football experience, while the return of fan-favorite Superstar Mode and mini-games (on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC versions) deliver fun new ways to play and learn the game.

Plus, for the first time, fans can play with friends regardless of their platform with cross-play support and feature parity on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC in head-to-head and certain online multiplayer modes.

The Madden NFL 23 Championship Series witnessed record growth in player participation and the return to our first in-person competition in over three years, capped off by a historic run by “Dez,” who became the youngest player ever crowned Madden Bowl champion. Following last year’s success, we’re thrilled to announce the return of the Madden Championship Series (“MCS 24”) in Madden NFL 24. Below are the main headlines for this upcoming season:

• More Chances to Win
  • Each month from September to January will feature one competition with at least USD $125,000 on the line, giving you more opportunities to showcase your skills and earn more!
• More Live, In-Person Events 
  • All finals will be played live, in-person as we look to bring players back together during MCS 24.

  • Cross-play is coming to the MCS, allowing players on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X, and PC to all compete in the same virtual gridiron.

Road to the Ultimate Madden Bowl

You’ll have five (5) opportunities to register and compete from now through January 2024, earning both prizing and points based on your placement. The top 14 points-earners at the conclusion of the season will earn a spot in this season’s Ultimate Madden Bowl.

MCS 24 tournaments can be played any Gen 5 console (Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5) or PC in a cross-platform competition. Tournaments will only be available through Madden Ultimate Team and will feature three separate phases: 

• Ladder Phase
  • It all starts here as you compete against the rest of the field and climb to the top of the leaderboard. Standings will be refreshed after each match so you will know where you rank as you chase for one of the coveted top 32 spots. Those will earn a very important bye until Single Elimination Phase (Day 2).
• Single Elimination Phase
  • Day 1 - The top 544 ranked players advance to the elimination phase and will earn MCS points based on how they finish each tournament. Players ranked 33rd - 544th will face off against each other in single elimination until the top 32 remain and then they will advance to Single Elimination Phase (Day 2). 
  • Day 2 - The top 32 players from Ladders and the top 32 players from the first day of Eliminations will be seeded into this 64-person single elimination bracket. Competitors will play until we get to the Live Event Phase participants.
• Live Event Phase
  • The top 4 players (top 8 for Ultimate Kickoff) from the Single Elimination Phase will be flown out for an in-person showdown, where the winner of each event will earn a coveted MCS Belt.

Ultimate Kickoff

The MCS 24 season begins with the Ultimate Kickoff, a USD $200,000 prize pool competition. In celebration of NFL Kickoff, the Ultimate Kickoff marks the first opportunity for Madden NFL 24 players to test their skills and climb the ranks. Following Ladder Play and Single Elimination, the top 8 players will compete in the live finals, which will be streamed on the official MCS Twitch and YouTube. Don’t miss a second of the action, below are the key dates you need to know:

  • A minimum of 6 games must be played, and the top 544 competitors will advance to the next phases.
  • The top 32 will earn byes and be placed into Phase 3. 
• Single Elimination Stage
  • Top 544 players advance to the Elimination Phase. Top 32 players advance to Day 2. 
  • Day 1: August 27th will play rounds 512/256/128/64
  • Day 2: August 28th will play rounds 64/32/16
• Live Event Phase 
  • Top 8 players are flown out for a live & in-person showdown.
  • Quarterfinals: September 5th kicking off at 6:30pm EST
  • Semifinals & Finals: September 6th kickoff at 6:30pm EST 

Ultimate Challenges

This MCS 24 season features an expanded competitive program with four opportunities to compete in monthly challenges from October through January. All points and prizes for each challenge are identical. More information will come out on each challenge as registration opens, but for now below is a snapshot of the key dates to know!

Ultimate Madden Bowl

The MCS 24 season will conclude with the USD $1,000,000 Ultimate Madden Bowl, featuring the top 14 cumulative points-earners. The world’s best Madden NFL 24 players will face off in a single-elimination bracket across several broadcast days as we seek to crown this year's Ultimate Madden Bowl Champion. Be on the lookout for more details around the Ultimate Madden Bowl broadcasts.

Upon qualifying for the online elimination stage for any of the five Ultimate tournaments (Kickoff or Challenge 1 - 4), you start earning MCS points towards your overall standing. At the end of all of these tournaments, the top 14 cumulative points earners will automatically advance to the Ultimate Madden Bowl.

If earning a Madden Belt wasn’t enough, you’ll also be competing for a portion of the USD $1.7M prize pool. Each participant who plays at least one game per tournament will receive a MUT Red Zone Pack (maximum of 5 Red Zone Packs throughout the MCS season, with a maximum of 1 Red Zone Pack per EA Major). Eligibility Requirements

Viewing Rewards

Tune in during MCS 24 broadcasts on Twitch and YouTube to earn special tournament-specific, in-game Drop rewards. Every tournament will feature a special program. More information will be provided closer to each broadcast.

Gameplay in Madden NFL 24 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC is more realistic, with improvements to FieldSENSE delivering increased control in throwing, catching, and tackling and SAPIEN delivering more body definition that improves the fluidity of athletic motion.

More upgrades available on these platforms include: 

• Hit Everything: New contested catch tackles provide more control to play the receiver and new tackle types like: Wrap tackles, Scoop tackles and all-new Hit-Stick animations add personality and more variety on defense. Dynamic branching tech now expands to blocking as well. 
• Skill Based Passing: Skill Based Passing makes throwing and catching feel more fluid. An overhauled catching system ensures that receivers consistently maintain their momentum when catching the ball. It feels better than ever to hit a receiver in stride, giving you more control to get loose and get up-field after the catch. A variety of new passing and catching animations capture the authenticity that players expect – dive catches, no-look passes and some game-changing moments never before seen in Madden. 
• Foundational Football: Enhancements across blocking, ball carrier pathfinding, quarterback decision making and defensive back behaviors not only provide confidence your AI teammates will execute your gameplan the way you intend, but also deliver an authentic challenge.
