The fun hack'n'slay captivates with its pulsating beats, action-packed sequences and quirky humor. The musical odyssey, whose soundtrack was created in collaboration with the German Babelsberg Film Orchestra, among others, takes players to a fictional, dystopian Berlin in the 1990s, where there is only one rule: Stay on beat!
In Beat Slayer, tough music lover and tinkerer Mia faces off against former musician and villain Dietrich, who rules the shabby streets of the city with an iron fist and his robot hordes from the TV Tower. Accompanied by a full voiceover in German and English, the gameplay focuses on the music and is packed with lots of cool moves; the better the player’s attacks groove to the rhythm of the soundtrack, the more smoothly Mia turns her opponents into scrap metal. Players who have difficulties with the beat or are hearing-impaired, can also activate various rhythm assistance features if required.
Every run will play differently and offer hours of exciting fun thanks to a range of weapons and upgrades such as fire, electricity and viruses, which are unlocked in the course of the game, and challenging boss battles each with their own unique atmosphere, challenges and melodies.
A playable demo is now available as part of Steam Next Fest.
Key Features:
- Fight to the rhythm!: Every move you make has to match the rhythm of the soundtrack. Fail to do so and you’ll pay the price. No button mashing, no frantic inputs. Only smooth and skillful gameplay will lead to your victory against the waves of different enemies and imposing bosses!
- Show them your moves!: Leverage Mia’s nimble move set and decide within seconds which of your moves you should use. Dash to engage or disengage? Attack to build up your drive bar or spread your status effects? Kick your enemies against walls or into each other? The choice is yours!
- Slay it your way!: Each run plays differently and is influenced by your playstyle and your thrill for risks, but also by your starting weapon, your chosen upgrades and your growing skill set.
- Berlin Attitude: Rely on your unconventional team of rebels as you navigate through a robot-controlled and corrupted Berlin. Discover the city's diverse locations, from underground bunkers to towering rooftops, while your allies assist with weapons, upgrades, and valuable insights.
- Get in the flow!: Put on your headphones, sync with the beat and dive more and more into the action to enter the “flow state”. Don’t think and just play. Let the music guide you and create your own symphony of destruction round, after round, after round!
Beat Slayer is coming to PC (Steam) on April 4, 2024.
