IO Interactive announces today a new Elusive Target, featuring the likeness of Hollywood action legend, Jean-Claude Van Damme.

JCVD will feature as Max Valliant, once one of ICA’s most formidable operatives who was presumed dead before suddenly reappearing and taking over an ICA data storage facility for an unknown motive.

The Splitter will be available to play in the Free Starter Pack* for new players and as a regular Elusive Target for Hitman World of Assassination players, from December 12th, 2024, to January 12th, 2025.

In this new role, Jean-Claude Van Damme stars as Max Valliant, a former ICA operative believed to have been eliminated years ago after it was discovered he was dealing with other organizations. Somehow evading his assassination, he has now returned with a vengeance. After resurfacing, Max Valliant has taken control of an ICA data storage facility and requested a meeting with the ICA board.

Taking place in Chongqing, Agent 47’s mission will be threefold: escorting an ICA board member within the facility, uncovering Max Valliant sinister agenda, and most importantly, taking down Max Valliant. A ruthless and unforgiving assassin whose only weakness seems to be his self-confidence; Max Valliant will not be like any other mission.

The Elusive Target mission is available to play, for free, for newcomers to Hitman in the Free Starter Pack, with the possibility of replaying the mission as many times as they wish, for the mission's duration. Hitman World of Assassination players can play the Elusive Target mission for free, but with only one chance at success. They can also gain permanent access to an Arcade mission featuring The Splitter through The Splitter Pack.

The Splitter Pack, a brand new DLC pack themed after the latest Elusive Target, will also be released on all platforms on the 12th of December. The Splitter Pack includes:

The Season of The Splitter – Live Updates, Free for Hitman World of Assassination Players 

Launching alongside The Splitter, a new content roadmap will start from December 12th. Three new challenges inspired by the Hitman community will be coming to the World of Assassination, as well as new Featured Contracts and returning Elusive Targets. A new Twitch Drop, the Purple Streak ICA19 Classic Baller, will also be up for grabs by watching one hour of Hitman World of Assassination on Twitch between the 12th of December 2024 and the 8th of January 2025. Additionally, players will be able to unlock the Purple Streak Boxer Suit, by supporting Twitch streamers with a subscription, with the campaign also running from the 12th of December 2024 to the 8th of January 2025.

Also, as part of our latest patch going live on December 12th, Hitman World of Assassination will be supporting new PlayStation 5 Pro features, meaning that players will enjoy playing at a locked 60 Frames per Second, and at a resolution of 3840 x 2160.

Hitman World of Assassination’s sandbox locations give you complete freedom to approach your objectives in any way you want. As well as the new multi-function camera, you’ll also be able to interact with the game world in new ways to access new opportunities and paths through each level. Want to organize a meeting with your target? Check. How about opening elevator doors to access a new route? You can do that too and so much more.

As you explore each mission and complete challenges, you’ll rise through 20 Mastery tracks that will unlock new tools, weapons and even Starting Locations that will let you begin your next playthrough with a big advantage – possibly even in a disguise. All of the items and weapons that you unlock in a Mastery track are added to your permanent inventory, so you’ll be able to pick and choose from them no matter what mission you want to take on next.

Hitman World of Assassination has been made with replayability front and center. You simply cannot see and do everything that a mission has to offer in a single playthrough, and the Mastery tracks keep things fresh as you take new approaches, use new items and discover previously unexplored areas.

Depending on how you choose to complete your objectives, you’ll be awarded with a Playstyle at the end of each mission. From the coveted Silent Assassin to a Hired Gun and everything in between, there’s a Hitman style for every player. Maybe you’re a Marksman?

Hitman III will have full PS VR support. Yes, that means you can traverse the outside of the tallest building in the (Hitman) world in PS VR! If you own the previous games from the trilogy on PS4, you can also access locations from them within Hitman III. That’s more than 20 Hitman locations from the World of Assassination trilogy to enjoy in PS VR.

You can either play Hitman III in PS VR natively on your PS4 or via backward compatibility on PS5. To make sure all PS VR owners can experience the game in VR, we’re including a free digital copy of the PS4 version of Hitman III with all PS5 copies, whether you choose to buy it via disc or digital.

Hitman World of Assassination will look, sound and play better than ever with improvements to lighting, reflections, animation and AI. Chongqing also features full water effects, with details such as rain drops hitting Agent 47 and his clothes getting wet, all adding to the immersion of experiencing Hitman III.

On next-gen consoles, Hitman World of Assassination will run in 4K resolution at 60 frames per second with HDR support.
