'Exfil' Is A Tactical First-Person Shooter, Coming to Steam Early Access Later This Week - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on Dec. 9, 2024 @ 11:04 a.m. PST

Exfil is a realism-focused milsim, combining sandbox elements and tactical round-based FPS gameplay.

Exfil is a tactical first-person shooter that empowers players with sandbox game modes and the tools to play the way they want.

Exfil delivers a unique multiplayer experience, allowing up to 32 players (divided into four teams of eight) to engage in intense, customizable matches. The game will offer diverse modes that cater to fans of competitive PvP, cooperative team-based challenges and dynamic PvE mission play.

Up to four teams of eight battle to secure objectives in short, customizable, single-life matches. Enjoy self-hosted or dedicated server options, ensuring you and your community can always access the action.

Exfil is developed by the four-person team at Misultin Studios, three of whom are ex-senior developers on the Squad franchise.

Exfil will enable players to craft new game modes, scenarios, and unique experiences. Whether it's competitive PvP, cooperative challenges, or dynamic PvE missions, Misultin Studios wants to give players the freedom to think outside the box and shape their gameplay in ways that push the boundaries of traditional shooters.

Exfil will launch into Steam Early Access on December 11, 2024, delivering an innovative multiplayer experience that combines realism-focused combat with creative sandbox gameplay.

From day 1 of Early Access, Exfil delivers an unparalleled sense of freedom to players, enabling them to completely tailor their tactical experience.

Early Access include:

  • Extraction-Style Game Modes:
    • Classic Extraction: Teams compete to secure vital intel and exfiltrate, with only one team making it out alive.
    • Rogue Extraction: An asymmetric mode where a small team of rogue operatives with critical intel must outwit and outmaneuver a larger opposing force.
  • Diverse Playstyles: Engage in intense firefights, stealth operations, or tactical team maneuvers across six massive handcrafted maps featuring industrial zones, military camps, dense forests, and more.

The Exfil development team places its thriving player community at the heart of its vision. With thousands of active members in the official Discord, player feedback is integral to shaping the game’s features and future updates.

The Early Access release of Exfil will focus on the extraction game modes, providing players with a polished core experience while gathering feedback to enhance and expand the game. Upcoming features include the addition of a fully featured scenario editor, NPC integration, a slot-based inventory system, global stat tracking, and much more.

“At MicroProse, we are dedicated to delivering games that push the boundaries of tactical and strategic gameplay,” said Chris Ansell, Chief Marketing Officer at MicroProse. “Partnering with Misultin Studios, Exfil’s launch allows us to combine their innovative vision with our legacy of excellence, creating an exceptional and continually-evolving experience for players.”

We’re not stopping there either!

We’re also building a full scenario editor that’s going to put you in the driver’s seat. You’ll be able to tweak game rules, craft new challenges, or design entire scenarios from scratch. It’s all about giving you the freedom to create the experience you want.

Dynamic Maps, weather, and time-of-day:

We’ve got six massive handcrafted maps, a 24hr day/night cycle, and a fully simulated weather system. Whether it’s rain, fog, or even sandstorms, you’ll need to adapt on the fly– meaning no two matches are ever the same! Each map brings something different to the table, with dense forests, industrial zones, military camps, and more.

  • North Woods
  • Port Lobos
  • Camp Osprey
  • Mologa District
  • New- Renegade Oil / Operation Anvil

Fully Simulated Bullet Physics, Penetration, and Armor: We’ve gone all out on the realism front. Every shot in EXFIL is calculated—bullet drop, velocity, and trajectory all factor in, and bullets interact with not just the environment but player armor as well. They’ll penetrate or ricochet off surfaces based on thickness and material, meaning you’ll need to think about your surroundings, giving every firefight a whole new level of strategy

Weapon Arsenal: Our growing arsenal has you covered, whether you prefer precision or firepower. We’ve got a range of primary and secondary weapons, throwables, deployable traps, and night vision gear. And we’re just getting started! New weapons, gear, and traps are on the way, including snipers, shotguns, and SMGs—so stay tuned

Self-Hosted Servers and Dedicated Hosting Options: Self-hosted servers let you set the rules and create the gameplay experience you want. Prefer something more long-term? We’ve got dedicated hosting options too—same customization, with added stability.

Our built-in VOIP is ready for action!: Providing each team with dedicated voip to enhance tactical gameplay. But watch out! You’ll need to stay vigilant–Proximity voice chat is active. Remember to keep an eye (and ear) out for any enemies eavesdropping!

Comprehensive round tracking: The three core pillars of milsim are "preparation, execution, and assessment." In EXFIL, our match tracking goes above and beyond—making every hit, miss, shot, and step visible after the match. Review missions in the lobby using our after-action event log, replay timeline, and combat log to analyze every detail with your team

Always expanding admin customization options:

  • Toggleable tactical ping.
  • Toggleable Name tags.
  • Weather, time of day and time of year.
  • Toggleable Hi/Low visibility uniforms.
  • Player seeking mortars.
  • Spectator freelook.
  • And more to come!

The future’s bright for EXFIL. As a self-funded team, we're committed to continuously developing new features, no matter the revenue from Steam. Over the next 12-18 months, our goal is to collaborate closely with the community to expand our toolset with even more unique features.

Some "Coming Soon" features include but are not limited to:

  • Scenario Editor: Create and share your own PvE missions, asymmetric PvP game modes, AI sieges, and more. We can’t wait to see what the community comes up with!
  • NPCs: We are eager to add NPC as a local opposition force that gamers can encounter in the world.
  • Localizations: Adding language support, including but not limited to Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Spanish, Filipino, German and French.
  • Slot Inventory: We aim to enhance the "build your own adventure" aspect of kits and roles by introducing a slot-based inventory system. This system will allow players to configure their loadouts in-game, utilizing an Armory or similar mechanic.
  • Global Stats tracking: A global stats dashboard to track various metrics, including preferred weapons, factions, game modes, hit percentage, and other detailed MilSim statistics across a user's entire EXFIL career.

Exfil is in development for PC (Steam).
