'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III' Season 2 Reloaded Drops Later This Week, Content Details - Trailer

by Rainier on March 4, 2024 @ 11:09 a.m. PST

A direct sequel to Modern Warfare ll, Captain Price and Task Force 141 must adapt or die in a fight against the ultimate threat in Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare III.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is the direct sequel to the record-breaking Call of Duty: Modern Warfare ll. Players will experience a rich and immersive campaign with unprecedented player choice, picking up directly after Modern Warfare ll, all-new open world Zombies set on the largest Call of Duty Zombies map ever, and one of the greatest collections of Modern Warfare multiplayer maps ever assembled – both fan favorites and all new ones.

Get ready for an all-new Campaign that continues the story immediately following the events of Modern Warfare II. Lead developer Sledgehammer Games, in partnership with Infinity Ward is set to deliver a full Campaign of action-packed operations ranging from signature, cinematic experiences to free-form Open Combat Missions, resulting in more player choice than ever before.

Expect a world-class Multiplayer experience celebrating the Modern Warfare series’ greatest legacies; all 16 launch maps from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009) have been modernized with new modes and gameplay features and will be available at launch to get everyone started, while over 12 all-new core 6v6 maps will fuel post-launch live seasons.

For the first time, team up with other squads to survive and fight massive hordes of the undead in the largest Call of Duty Zombies map ever. Modern Warfare Zombies (MWZ) tells a new Zombies story from developer Treyarch, with missions, core Zombies features, and a host of secrets to discover.

In the direct sequel to Modern Warfare II, Captain Price, and Task Force 141 face off against the ultimate threat. The ultranationalist Vladimir Makarov is extending his grasp across the world, causing Task Force 141 to fight like never before.

Combat means making decisions; using different Loadouts and planning different paths through every operation across an involved and thrilling Campaign. In addition to the signature, cinematic Call of Duty missions, Modern Warfare III introduces Open Combat Missions, with even greater emphasis on player choice. Naturally, you’ll have the use of all the weapons, equipment, and tactics present in an action-packed Modern Warfare single-player experience, but for some of your engagements, it is completely up to you to decide on an appropriate course of action.

Open Combat Missions (OCMs) are an exciting innovation to the Call of Duty Campaign. Not only do these complement the cinematic missions you’ve come to expect, but they also provide you with numerous additional choices regarding your methods of mission completion. For example, if you prefer to use stealth techniques, you may wish to undertake an OCM with a lights-out approach, using night-vision goggles and suppressed weapons and complete your objectives without your adversaries knowing you were even there. However, if loud explosions and reckless abandon are part of your repertoire, strap extra armor plates onto your torso and hit those targets head-on!

Feel free to take advantage of any operable vehicles within your area of operations. You’re able to experiment with and leverage tactical and lethal equipment. You have the flexibility to maneuver across the sizable landscape of a mission’s AO and approach objectives from multiple angles. You can truly play how you want to play, and Open Combat Missions will support it.

Here’s what’s on the way:

MODERN WARFARE® III OVERVIEW

CONTENT SUMMARY:

  • New (Remastered) 6v6 Multiplayer Map. Revisit Das Haus in a whole new location as the setting moves from a training facility to the top of a skyscraper.
  • Introducing Bounty, Juggermosh. Eliminate the HVT in Bounty for extra points, and battle as a Space Marine inspired Juggernaut in the Juggermosh limited-time mode.
  • Vortex: Decay’s Realm. Redeploy to the Vortex with an expanded map pool featuring the new map variants Skidgrow and Airborne.

New (Remastered) 6v6 Map: Das Haus

Das Haus (6v6)

Players first deployed to Das Haus in the form of a training facility in Call of Duty®: Vanguard, battling nonstop in the map’s tight confines. For Season 2 Reloaded, the iconic and compact map returns in Modern Warfare III, now reimagined and situated on the top of a skyscraper in the vicinity of Highrise. In fact, that map can be spotted in the distance from one of the spawn points. The layout is just as chaotic as you remember it, rewarding Operators who stay on the offensive and don’t let up.

New Playlist and Map Variants: Vortex — Decay’s Realm [Limited-Time Mode]

The eldritch realms within the Vortex expand with the addition of Airborne and Skidgrow alongside Tetanus, Sporeyard, and Satan’s Quarry. Drop into the Vortex: Decay’s Realm Playlist to compete on the new map variants across Team Deathmatch, Domination, Kill Confirmed, and Hardpoint.

Look for the Vortex: Decay’s Realm in-game Event arriving later in the mid-season and detailed under “New Weekly Challenges and Events” near the end of this article.

Airborne

You might want to skip your afternoon meal at Burger Town this visit as Terminal falls victim to an alien infestation covering the environment in a putrid green growth. Locusts swarm overhead and a heavy fog blankets the outer apron; if you think that’s bad, just wait until you board the plane. Secure your victory then evacuate ASAP… until it’s time to return for the next fight.

Skidgrow

The flora has taken over as Skidrow becomes the site of massive overgrowth, as if the population vanished letting nature take its inevitable toll. Ivy hangs down the sides of the buildings and creeps along abandoned vehicles, even breaking into the interior spaces of the map. Weeds and grass push up through the crumbled concrete. At this rate, the once urban center will soon resemble a jungle. Fight on to ensure that you’re the king of it.

New Modes: Bounty, Juggermosh

Bounty

Face off against the enemy in a Team Deathmatch–style game mode where players have unlimited lives and the first team to reach the elimination-based score limit wins. In Bounty, however, the biggest slayer on each team will be designated as an HVT (high-value target). The HVT on each team carries a flag and is highlighted for all to see and awards extra points when eliminated.

Juggermosh

Prepare for heavy combat as players slug it out as imposing Juggernauts clad in Space Marines skins inspired by the Warhammer 40,000 universe, fully viewable in third-person perspective for the entire match, occurring across Kill Confirmed and Domination modes.

When a match begins, you drop in as an Ultramarines inspired Juggernaut clad in “Ultramar’s Vengeance” Power Armor or a Blood Angels Space Marine encased in “Baal’s Wrath” Power Armor. This armor skin offers the same capabilities as a Juggernaut Recon Killstreak, and every player comes equipped in these ornate and advanced protective suits.

You’re here to battle for possession of the OHK (one-hit kill) melee weapon — a flesh-tearing Chainsword! — in the center of the map. Grab armor from fallen enemies to patch back up and aim for the head to inflict even greater increased damage. In this mode, all players will display a health bar over their heads so you can better coordinate with your teammates to focus fire on the weakest link in the fight.

Use heights to your advantage. These massive suits not only prevent fall damage but also release an area-of-effect stun and damage effect on foes when landing from a high enough drop, a great way to initiate fights. You’ll need every advantage, too, as only air support Killstreaks are allowed, meaning it’s solely up to you to inflict damage on your opponent using an array of mode-specific  armaments, Perks, and reduced melee damage.

Fight for the Imperium — Deploy in armor inspired by the 41st millennium: The fearsome Space Marines of the Warhammer 40,000 universe are ideally suited to stand toe-to-toe with multiple Juggernauts! Players who purchase the Tracer Pack: Warhammer 40,000 Space Marines Bundle will receive the “Ultramar’s Vengeance” Ultramarines and “Baal’s Wrath” Blood Angels Space Marine Juggernaut Recon Killstreak Skins permanently, as part of the offering.

Though anyone entering the limited-time Juggermosh game mode brings Power Armor inspired by the 41st Millennium into the fray, only players purchasing the Bundle will receive these Killstreak Skins permanently, after the Juggermosh mode concludes.

Note! The two Space Marine Power Armor variants mentioned above are not Operator Skins, allowing you to change the Skin of the Juggernaut Recon Killstreak only: The “Ultramarine Scout” and “Blood Angels Scout” Skins are the Operator Skins contained within the Tracer Pack: Warhammer 40,000 Space Marines Bundle. See later into this blog post for further details.

ZOMBIES OVERVIEW

CONTENT SUMMARY:

  • New Story Mission. Continue your journey alongside Sergei Ravenov as you’re pulled back into the Dark Aether while investigating a new anomaly, presenting terrifying and exciting challenges you haven’t encountered before.
  • Dark Aether Rift. Squad up and conquer the Dark Aether once more in an all-new Dark Aether Rift, earning new and powerful rewards.
  • Battle Warlord Keres. A new Warlord enters the Exclusion Zone, a chemical warfare specialist who’s willing to use any means necessary to choke out opposing Operators.
  • New Schematics. Fire and keep on firing with the Mags of Holding. Summon an otherworldly two-wheeler with the Blood Burner Key. Expand your squad with the V-R11 Wonder Weapon.

New Story Mission, Dark Aether Rift

The story continues for Operation Deadbolt in Season 2 Reloaded. The Dark Aether is closing in again and bringing new enemies with it. Confront the anomaly and enter the Dark Aether once more. . .

Operation Deadbolt is tasked with investigating a new anomaly in the next Modern Warfare Zombies Story Mission. Terminus Outcomes is becoming bolder and has followed your squad into the Dark Aether. Lean on your expert guide, Sergei Ravenov, to assess the situation, defeat the mercenaries, and survive the Dark Aether.

After completing the new Story Mission, a fresh Dark Aether Rift experience awaits. . .  Keep your eyes open, follow the cryptic clues, and complete timed tasks to unlock access to the Rift Gate. Once inside, complete challenges and survive to earn coveted rewards, like the Blood Burner Key and more.

New Warlord: Keres

A deadly and elusive chemical warfare specialist, Keres is set to challenge even the most prepared squads. Those brave enough to face her will find her in the Killhouse at Orlov Military Base. Come prepared and approach with extreme caution: Expect her fortress to be well-defended by soldiers, snipers, turrets, traps, and poison gas grenades. Gas masks are highly recommended.

Breaching the fortress is only the first hurdle. Inside, a new gas compound spread throughout the facility disrupts multiple sensors and thermal weapon scopes. Once it’s time to face Keres, be ready to engage not only against her Loadout of ballistic weapons but also her signature poisonous smokescreen and other bioweapons.

New Schematics

Mags of Holding: Skip the reload and pull ammo directly from your weapon’s ammo stash, so you can keep pumping out damage without needing to stop and fill up again.

Blood Burner Key: Need a sick ride? Look no further. With the Blood Burner Key, you can summon this two-wheeler Wonder Vehicle at will. Cruise in style with this nearly indestructible bike that can move across water and is fueled by the blood of zombies you flatten under its tires. Surrounded? Activate the bike’s Aether Pulse ability to blast enemies in near proximity.

V-R11 Wonder Weapon: In battle, every ally counts. Bolster your numbers using the V-R11 Wonder Weapon, capable of transforming zombies into friendly mercenaries and mercenaries into friendly zombies. Squadmate getting swarmed? You can also target allies with the V-R11, providing them temporary immunity from zombie aggression.

WARZONE OVERVIEW

CONTENT SUMMARY:

  • Research Vessel Mobile POI. Board the Research Vessel on Fortune’s Keep, a new mobile POI circling the island’s shoreline.
  • New Killstreak: Clear out buildings of entrenched enemies with this aerial attack that decimates anyone within the targeted location.
  • New Field Upgrade: Create a safe zone in the gas with the Portable Decontamination Station, protecting any Operators within its area of effect.

New POI, Killstreak, and Field Upgrade

Research Vessel (Mobile Point of Interest)

Reports of a pontoon-style watercraft off the coast of Fortune’s Keep have been confirmed as the ship arrives offshore in the mid-season update. Climb aboard once you spot it, because this mobile POI stays on the move throughout the first two minutes of a match, before dropping anchor in one of a few predetermined locations.

Keep your eyes out for enemy Operators who are also exploring the vessel; the ship features multiple levels as well as its own helipad and Ascenders, so danger can appear at any moment even if it appears safe on first boarding. Once you’re on the Research Vessel, it’s usually a great idea to commandeer the craft and utilize the equipment on board. You can:

  • Access a decontamination station that works like the PDS (see below).
  • Watch for enemies after activating the UAV tower.
  • Purchase unique and exclusive items from the special Buy Station.
  • Toot the vessel’s horn to prove you’ve stormed the ship, and if you’d like more enemy interest in your current whereabouts.
  • Pilot the helicopter (or another chopper) onto the helipad.
  • Investigate the [[REDACTED]] and unlock the loot-filled [[REDACTED]].

New Killstreak — Bunker Buster

Pinned down by enemy snipers holed up in the building across the street? Instead of charging them head-on and wishing for the best, pull out your binoculars and target the building with the new Bunker Buster Killstreak. Once this is activated, watch your enemies bite the dust as a missile drops down on the building, sending an explosive blast through multiple floors and leaving a column of gas in its wake.

New Field Upgrade — Portable Decontamination Station

Clear away the gas using the new Portable Decontamination Station (PDS) Field Upgrade. With this item, you decide when it’s time to move. Emitting a cloud of chemicals that counteracts the corrosive effects of the circle gas, a temporary safe zone is created for all Operators within its area of effect, though it’s also available on the Tac Map for all Operators to see. Note that the duration of this Field Upgrade shortens after the sixth circle of gas.

Looking for mobile gas protection? Attach the PDS to your vehicle and clear the way. The Field Upgrade can also be deployed in the water and near a Buy Station to reactivate it.

The Soulrender offers rapid slashing attacks via the Aim button alongside its heavier primary attack; hold the Fire button to prepare the heavy slash and release in time to down your foe with a devastating hit. Combo the two attack styles together for maximum damage.

With an effective damage range up to 25 meters and the highest rate of fire within its class, the SOA Subverter is well worth considering as your new main weapon. Its steady upward recoil is easily manageable for staying on target through sustained fire, combined with a solid damage output that downs most enemies in three to four shots before factoring in Armor Plates.

Season 2 sees the arrival of the three Warhammer 40,000 Store Bundles, featuring Operators inspired by the Space Marines, the Sisters of Battle, and the Astra Militarum. Warhammer 40,000 Bundles

In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war. Humanity stands alone, beset on all sides by the heretic, the mutant, and the alien.

The defenders of the galaxy-spanning Imperium have arrived as part of the mid-season update across three Warhammer 40,000 Bundles. Crush your enemies in armor inspired by the 10th Company of the Ultramarines or Blood Angels, rush into the thick of combat adorned like a Sister of Battle, or fight in the regalia of an elite Cadian Kasrkin.

Find out more about the Warhammer 40,000 game and setting here.

Tracer Pack: Warhammer 40,000 Space Marines

Show your loyalty to your Chapter and the Emperor and adorn yourself like an Angel of Death. This Bundle features two Operator Skins: the “Ultramarines Scout” Skin inspired by the armor of the Ultramarines 10th company, and the “Blood Angels Scout” Skin inspired by the armor of the Blood Angels 10th Company.

In addition, bring havoc to the limited-time Juggermosh Multiplayer Mode! In this mode, any player, whether purchasing this Bundle or not, dons the “Ultramar’s Vengeance” Ultramarines and “Baal’s Wrath” Blood Angels Space Marine Power Armor, which are not Operator Skins, but variant Skins of the Juggernaut Recon Killstreak. However, only owners of this Bundle can equip either Power Armor Skin as a Killstreak variant after the Juggermosh limited-time mode concludes!

In addition, equip the “Ultramarines” and “Blood Angels” Weapon Charms, and head into battle with “The Flesh Tearer” and “The Teeth of Terra” Melee Weapons based off the iconic Chainsword. Lead your allies to victory with the emblazoned “Aegis Imperialis” Riot Shield Blueprint. Or just finish them in one fell swoop with the “Evisceration” Finishing Move.

Defend humanity from the horrors of the 41st millennium and deploy with the “Cadian Kasrkin” Operator Skin, an elite trooper of the Imperial Guard. Slice through your enemies with the “Munitorum Issue Blade” Melee Weapon Blueprint and wield Lasgun-inspired weapons with the “Hammer of the Emperor” Assault Rifle Blueprint and the “Born Soldier” Marksman Rifle Blueprint, both featuring Lasrifle Tracers and Gorehammer Dismemberment. Or you can always tear them apart with the “Tactical Pet: Servo-Skull” Finishing Move.

Wear your insignia with pride by equipping the “Astra Militarum” Emblem, the “Sacred Rosarius” Weapon Charm, the “Warstorm” Loading Screen, the “Cadia Stands” Calling Card, and the “War’s Decree” Large Decal.

Both Weapon Blueprints feature B.E.A.S.T. Tracers.

Obliterate enemies from behind using the “Kong’s Knuckle Slamwich” Finishing Move and show off your bestial nature with the “Bow to No-One” Large Decal and the “King Kong” Weapon Charm.

Tracer Pack: Dune Part Two — Harkonnen Pack

“No Atreides shall live.” — Baron Vladimir Harkonnen

Deploy as the enemy of House Atreides with the “Harkonnen Hunter” Operator Skin, covered from head to toe in state-of-the-art armor capable of withstanding even the most severe weather conditions.

Overwhelm your foes with two Weapon Blueprints featuring Spice Tracers: the “Harkonnen” Assault Rifle features an underbarrel flamethrower for extra-crispy eliminations, while the “Harkonnen” Sniper Rifle offers a highly mobile long-distance option with Attachments catered toward Sprint to Fire speed, ADS speed, and movement speed. For dispatching enemies up close, deploy with the ”Harkonnen Long Sword” Melee weapon based off the new mid-season Soulrender.

So that no one mistakes you as one of the good guys, equip “The Oppressors” animated Calling Card, the “Harkonnen Rage” Large Decal, the “Baron’s Pet” Weapon Charm, and the “House Harkonnen” animated Emblem.

Bonus: Purchase both Bundles in the Dune Part Two collection — this one plus the Tracer Pack: Dune Part Two — Paul Atreides Operator Bundle — to unlock the “Paul Atreides Fedaykin Stealth Suit” Operator Skin.

Modern Warfare III celebrates the 20th anniversary of Call of Duty with one of the greatest collections of Modern Warfare Multiplayer maps ever assembled.

Afghan. Derail. Estate. Favela. Karachi. Highrise. Invasion. Quarry. Rundown. Rust. Scrapyard. Skidrow. Sub Base. Terminal. Underpass. Wasteland.

All 16 launch maps from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009) have been modernized, both graphically and with meticulous attention given to the authenticity and aspects of the maps that made them so popular. Veteran players love these Core 6v6 maps, and there’s no better time to introduce a generation of new players to experience the community’s favorite Modern Warfare content.

Prepare for seminal design to meet modern gameplay. This faithful modernization of the maps keeps their authenticity intact while infusing the latest tech, gameplay, modes, content, and more. Though you might have noticed elements of Terminal and Highrise during your time in Al Mazrah, the Modern Warfare III versions of these maps are built from scratch from the original 2009 designs.

In addition to brand-new modes like Cutthroat (a competitive 3v3v3 experience), a full range of fan-favorite and innovative gameplay features will be available at launch to get everyone started, like choosing to play Hardpoint and Kill Confirmed on Favela, modes that were never part of the original map offering, providing a refreshing multiplayer experience within these familiar environments.

The 16 Core launch maps are further complemented with the addition of four huge environments ready at launch and containing a host of new play spaces. These are composed of three brand-new Battle Maps — large scale locations where Modern Warfare III’s Ground War and Invasion game modes will be fought — and a single, colossal War map, as Modern Warfare III marks the welcome return and evolution of the legendary War Mode that first debuted in 2017’s Call of Duty: WWII.

With Day One Multiplayer content featuring faithful modernizations of Modern Warfare’s fan-favorite maps, over 12 all-new core 6v6 maps will fuel post-launch live seasons.

Expect many customization advancements and new gameplay mechanics to further evolve the quintessential, fast-moving gameplay. Here are three innovations, with more to be revealed in the coming weeks:

Breach and clear with the new Tactical Stance feature, a perfect middle-ground between hip-fire and aiming down sights. When entering tight hallways and cramped rooms, toggle Tac-Stance on to improve weapon performance and win the fight. Here’s what to expect from Tac-Stance:

  • The operator unshoulders the weapon and holds it in a canted firing position.
  • You can toggle in and out of Tac-Stance dynamically while aiming down sights.
  • Tac-Stance trades precise accuracy for improved mobility and handling.
  • Some spread to your firing will occur, best described as a middle ground between full ADS and hipfire.
  • It is designed to be used in aggressive, close-quarter combat situations.
  • By default, you fire in Tac-Stance while Sliding.

Modern Warfare III brings new levels of customization to Create-a-Class. Get ready to build your Loadout based on cutting-edge military equipment, such as gloves, tactical vests, boots and more; allowing you to fine-tune more aspects of gameplay.

The evolution of the Gunsmith continues with the addition of After-Market Parts. This is a special set of customization options allowing you to focus on your preferred and specific playstyle. After-Market Parts enable you to construct unique weapon configurations or types such as customizing a machine gun into a bullpup configuration (with the firing grip in front of the breech rather than behind it), thus increasing mobility and handling without compromising on damage output.

After-Market Parts will also offer new progression paths, and challenges to unlock. We will be sharing more information on these innovations in the coming weeks.

The core mechanics of Modern Warfare III deliver a massive offering of classic features bringing exceptional freedom of choice, movement, and customization to gameplay.

Here are the Multiplayer features confirmed for Modern Warfare III Multiplayer, coming Day One:

  • Map Voting returns, allowing players greater autonomy over their Multiplayer matches.
  • Classic Minimap Behavior, with red dots indicating when an enemy is firing an unsuppressed weapon.
  • All chosen Perks are available at the start of each match.
  • The Covert Sneakers Perk allows for silent movement (assuming you’ve chosen the correct footwear).
  • Core Multiplayer Health is increased to 150, lengthening the Time-to-Kill (TTK). Hardcore mode is not affected.

When maneuvering in Modern Warfare III Multiplayer, expect the following movement abilities in terms of your Operator’s general responsiveness:

  • You can cancel Slide animations (i.e., “slide cancel”), but Slide Cancelling does not reset Tactical Sprint.
  • You can cancel partial Reloads during an animation (i.e., “reload cancel”) to immediately return fire.
  • Mantling is faster, and you can Mantle while Sprinting.
  • You can fire during and immediately after Sliding.
  • Tactical Sprint durations are increased (the exact duration depends on the weapon being used).
  • Tactical Sprint recharges while Sprinting.

As discussed before, a vast amount of content and weapon progression from Modern Warfare II will come with you to Modern Warfare III. That means every Multiplayer weapon you currently have in your MWII arsenal, along with all the new weapons available in Modern Warfare III, will be accessible to use on Day One.

  • The depth of choice here truly honors the player investment into Modern Warfare II.
  • All MWII weapons, attachments, and unlocks will Carry Forward. There will be seamless functionality between new attachments and global Weapon Platforms.
  • Any MWII attachments that were considered “universal” (such as some Muzzles) will be available to attach to MWIII weapons, where applicable.
  • In certain cases, MWII weapons carried forward into MWIII will be able to utilize MWIII attachments that you unlock, where applicable.
  • The number of Weapon Platforms (AKA “Receivers”) have been increased for some categories, reducing restrictions on weapon customization by allowing for core attachments to be added to your favorite MWII weapons.

For the first time, team up with other squads to survive and fight massive hordes of the undead in the largest Call of Duty Zombies map ever. Modern Warfare Zombies (MWZ) tells an involved and unearthly Dark Aether Zombies story set in the Modern Warfare universe. Expect to undertake missions across different regions that escalate in difficulty, with core Zombies features and a cavalcade of secrets to discover. Ready up for an open-world player versus enemy (PvE) extraction survival experience against some of the biggest enemies in Call of Duty history.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare III is available for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
