The classic multiplayer roguelike, Risk of Rain, returns with an extra dimension and more challenging action. No run will ever be the same with randomized stages, enemies, bosses, and items. Play solo, or team up with up to four friends to fight your way through hordes of monsters, unlock new loot, and find a way to escape the planet.

With each run, you'll learn the patterns of your foes, and even the longest odds can be overcome with enough skill. A unique scaling system means both you and your foes limitlessly increase in power over the course of a game--what once was a bossfight will in time become a common enemy.

Myriad survivors, items, enemies, and bosses return to Risk 2, and many new ones are joining the fight. Brand new survivors like the Artificer and MUL-T debut alongside classic survivors such as the Engineer, Huntress, and--of course--the Commando. With over 75 items to unlock and exploit, each run will keep you cleverly strategizing your way out of sticky situations.

Gearbox Publishing announced a collaboration coming to Risk of Rain 2 with Motion Twin’s Dead Cells. Coming soon for players on all platforms, The Prisoner joins the rank of the Survivors as a free Alt Skin for the Mercenary.

Additionally, players will soon gain access to a vibrant new map, as well as two Artifacts as part of the free Devotion Update:

• Verdant Falls: This stage is a biodiverse area of Petrichor V full of lush vegetation, billowing waterfalls, and galactic wreckage. 
• Artifact of Devotion: Cultivate your own personal army of Lemurians! This artifact replaces drones with eggs. Players can hatch the eggs by surrendering an item, releasing a Lemurian to fight alongside them. The sacrificed items imbue their effects on the Lemurians, who grow and evolve as they feast on your foes!
• Artifact of Delusion: This artifact closes all chests after a teleporter event, allowing them to be re-opened. But there’s a twist: you have to correctly identify which item previously came out of the chest. Guess correctly, and new riches are yours! Guess wrong, and you lose the item.

Separately, Gearbox Publishing also released a Dev Diary today detailing some of the new stages from the upcoming Risk of Rain 2: Seekers of the Storm. These beautiful environments pose new challenges to players as they explore lost regions of Petrichor V in their pursuit of the False Son.

Seekers of the Storm, the second expansion for Risk of Rain 2, will feature new Survivors, tons of new items, enemies, stages, and more. 

It will introduce new lore and is packed with new items, and more. It introduces The False Son, a mighty antagonist constructed by the Lemurians in Providence’s image and corrupted by Mithrix’s Beads of Fealty. The expansion also debuts the franchise’s first stage with Day and Night phases, giving players different ways to interact and access to more areas to explore.
