'Instruments of Destruction' Leaving Early Access, Gets May PC Release Date, PS5 And Xbox Later In 2024 - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on April 3, 2024 @ 11:13 a.m. PDT

Instruments Of Destruction is a vehicle-building sandbox featuring advanced physics-based destruction.

Create crazy construction vehicles and use them to demolish buildings and complete various objectives.

You can demolish every structure in the game piece by piece. In addition, every object you see in the game world--save for small decorative plants and rocks--is part of the physics system. Each element of the world interacts with each other and together they create a physical, visceral world to play with.

Build a vehicle your way, with an ever-expanding array of parts and pieces. Using an intuitive vehicle construction system that also lets you customize your vehicles' appearance and controls, you'll always have fun creating your next awesome invention.

From simple splitters to advanced joints, a variety of parts slowly unlock as you play through the game, and each unlocks countless new possibilities.

While some vehicles will perform better than others in accomplishing your objectives, it's always a bit more fun to get creative and go a little off script. Optional bonus challenges and objectives will reward more creative builders and add more replayability.

Radiangames announced that Instruments Of Destruction v1.0 is coming to Steam on May 10th, 2024 at a discounted price of $16.99 (15% off the regular $19.99), and features the addition of a massive campaign where each mission has its own custom vehicle.  From everyday wreckers and flying bulldozers to ornithopters and spider tanks, Instruments of Destruction features one of the most unique and varied lineups of vehicles ever assembled.

"Instruments of Destruction's key feature may be the physics-based destruction system, but the huge lineup of vehicles and missions are just as important to unlocking the full potential of the immersive and satisfying gameplay," says Luke Schneider, creator of Instruments of Destruction. "The missions and environments provide a framework for fun objectives, while the systems-driven gameplay provides an intuitive way to interact with a simulated world."

Instruments of Destruction launched into Steam Early Access in March of 2022, and had over 100 updates in Early Access, and the Steam Workshop is overflowing with amazing vehicles from thousands of vehicle builders.

While the 50-mission campaign takes you on a thrilling journey as a test pilot for Sharpe Industries, it's just the tip of the iceberg for players who truly want to engage with the vehicles, physics, and destruction.  Each mission also hosts  a high-score challenge where players use a different vehicle to test their limits.  The missions and challenges combine for dozens of hours of destructive carnage.

If over a hundred playable vehicles isn't enough, players can take on a secondary campaign where they are challenged to build a custom vehicle from scratch.  With an instructional campaign and more cerebral missions and objectives, the 25-mission Build & Destroy campaign allows players to take the reins of the powerful vehicle build system, but is completely optional.  Finally, Sandbox mode offers players a chance to load up any of the nearly 100 maps--and any unlocked or custom vehicles--and play with no objectives or restrictions.

Key Features:

  • ADVANCED PHYSICS-BASED DESTRUCTION - You can demolish every structure in the game piece by piece. In addition, every object you see in the game world--save for small decorative plants and rocks--is part of the physics system. Each element of the world interacts with each other and together they create a physical, visceral world to play with.
  • BUILD UNIQUE VEHICLES - Build a vehicle your way, with an ever-expanding array of parts and pieces. Using an intuitive vehicle construction system that also lets you customize your vehicles' appearance and controls, you'll always have fun creating your next awesome invention.
  • SINGLEPLAYER CAMPAIGN + PROGRESSION - The first time you unlock a level, you will be provided with everything you need to complete simple objectives, and will be required to use certain parts and adhere to certain limits.
  • HARDCORE MODE - Complete a level in the campaign, and you'll unlock the same level in sandbox mode, and later it will become available in hardcore mode. Hardcore is similar to the main campaign, but will use more timers, add more difficult objectives, and limit the parts in different ways.
  • SANDBOX MODE - Finally, sandbox mode lets you use any unlocked part, and as many parts as you want (up to your current max based on progression), to complete more relaxed challenges on any completed level, or to just build and destroy stuff for fun.
  • FUTURE PLANS - Those 3 modes will be present at EA launch, but additional features and content will be added during Early Access. Additional details will be coming as new features are nearing completion.
  • Original Soundtrack: Radiangames is also thrilled to once again be featuring an original soundtrack composed by Auvic. The brilliant musician was also responsible for the retro-modern soundtrack for the developer's previous Apple Arcade title, Speed Demons.

The game plays well with either a keyboard or gamepad, though a gamepad is recommended due to force feedback providing a more immersive experience.  A select number of flying/hovering vehicles include optional mouse controls for aiming (those still work with keyboard-only controls).

Instruments Of Destruction is coming to PC (Steam) on May 10, 2024 at $19.99, with PS5/Xbox Series X|S to follow later in 2024.
