Calling all seaworthy explorers! Bohemia Interactive is thrilled to announce Ylands: Nintendo Switch Edition, which will be available exclusively for digital download on the Nintendo Switch on June 20, 2024 at $24.99 USD/€24.99 EUR.

Ylands: Nintendo Switch Edition is the ultimate creative open-world adventure game. Prepare to be immersed in an enchanting, low-poly universe, optimized to deliver a seamless gaming experience on the Nintendo Switch console. The game features core gameplay mechanics focused on exploration, sailing, crafting, building, and light survival elements. This combination of mechanics offers a unique and engaging experience for players of all ages.

What makes the Ylands: Nintendo Switch Edition version of the game unique, is that it will be available as a single-player offline game, which offers the popular Adventure and Creative game modes to cater to different play styles.

Bohemia Interactive has been redeveloping Ylands to ensure players have a fantastic experience whether they are playing at home or on the go, on their TV screens or via handheld with the following changes worth highlighting:

• Play Ylands Offline For The First Time: Ylands: Nintendo Switch Edition will be able to be played fully offline only, which is a first for this series. After download and initial launch, players don’t need an active internet connection to play the game. All player game worlds, creations and progress is stored locally which ensures smooth uninterrupted sailing, wherever they choose to play.
• Buy Once, Play Forever: While Ylands on PC is a free-to-play title Bohemia Interactive has elected for a simpler pay upfront premium model for Ylands: Nintendo Switch Edition. This, in combination with its offline nature, means there are no pay-to-progress mechanics, less of a need to grind in order to accumulate resources and no monetisation pushes. All planned updates for Ylands: Nintendo Switch Edition will always be included for no additional cost with the option to purchase optional cosmetic DLC packages also supported.
• Optimised Controls and UI with Stable Framerate: Ylands: Nintendo Switch Edition has been optimised to take full advantage of Nintendo Switch hardware, boasts a stable framerate and a user interface that has been designed with both TV and handheld play in mind.
• Safe Single Player For All Ages: Due to its offline structure, Ylands: Nintendo Switch Edition is a 100% safe gaming environment for younger players with zero microtransaction prompts and no risk of negative interactions with other players. There is no gore or graphic violence in the game, which makes it a perfect experience for younger players.

That means you can always pick up where you left off without needing to worry about server resets.

Take part in a growing number of official and user-generated free custom games. The Ylands workshop hosts nearly every video game genre, such as platforming, roleplaying, racing, and even simulation. Of course, you can also unleash your own inner game developer. Ylands’ powerful 3D editor and massive library of content lets you build anything from simple structures to sophisticated game modes, which you can then easily share with the rest of the community.

For the most part, we expect to earn revenue through the sales of the game itself. On top of that, we’re also providing Ylands fans with the opportunity to purchase a few special cosmetic items via the in-game store. These items consist of a selection of skins, emotes, avatars, pets, decorations, and blueprints. Altogether these items make up a fraction of the content available in Ylands, and none of them are essential to playing the game.
