Set in the far reaches of outer space during a new Dark Age, WarFrame introduces the Tenno, a race on the brink of extinction after being enslaved by the Grineer for centuries. Players enter WarFrame on the cusp of the Grineer's victory over the Tenno until they begin to arm themselves with WarFrames - an ancient exo-skeletal technology only they can operate. Hidden within the Orokin Derelicts of a lost civilization, new WarFrames lie dormant and undiscovered. These artifacts are the Tenno's only hope for survival.
WarFrame is a free-to-play fast-action PvE shooter set in an evolving sci-fi world. Some would call it MMO-Lite as squads of four players band together to advance their characters and battle the oppression of the genocidal Grineer. Throughout their combat missions, players will continually increase the power and abilities of their WarFrame and weapons. Players will raid new areas of space searching for exotic and powerful weapons and WarFrame augmentations to customize their arsenal. With WarFrame's Automatic Mission Generator, the game will offer endless replay as levels are procedurally configured for a unique raid -- every time.
Warframe’s next Cinematic Update from Digital Extremes, Jade Shadows, will lift the darkness from a fan favorite character in a new single-player Quest on June 18 for free across all current platforms. Today’s Devstream also dove deeper into the 57th Warframe Jade’s abilities, showcased footage of the new Ascension mission type and Clan Operation: Belly of the Beast, broke down TennoCon 2024’s full schedule and roster of special voice guests, revealed the date for Soulframe’s first-ever dedicated Devstream, among other ardent announcements.
“This marks our last Devstream until TennoCon, so we tried to pack it with as many goodies as we could to chew on until then," said Megan Everett, Community Director. "The team has really been looking forward to finally tell the Stalker’s story. We’ve also never made a Warframe like Jade before, we’re all stoked! So stay hungry Tenno, we are cooking some real tasty treats for everyone with Jade Shadows and beyond. Sometimes it's a detour from the main story, sometimes it's all connected, we intend to keep everyone on their toes for the rest of the year."
Shine a light onto the dark mysteries around one of Warframe’s most cryptic characters, the Stalker, in the latest narrative Quest, Jade Shadows. After Quest completion and newfound knowledge is gained, embody the 57th Warframe, Jade, the song of devastation. Acting in a support-type role, Jade channels her “angelic choir” inspirations to sing buffing solos for extra damage or shield regen, inflicting enemy slowdown, or pools of healing light. Cast her ultimate ability to take to the skies and remind the enemy of what true divine intervention is.
The Warframe team debuted footage of the new vertical mission type, Ascension. Escape the bottom layer of an enemy base by hijacking an enormous elevator while fighting off waves of opponents and stealing power cells to keep the lift rising. Acting as an epilogue to the Quest’s story with a focus on the Ascension mission, the new Clan Operation: Belly of the Beast sends players back into the enemy base’s depths. Gather together clan-mates to accomplish objectives and thwart the Corpus faction’s latest experiments, unlocking new stylish energy aura Ephemeras once the community goals are met.
Ahead of TennoCon 2024, the third entry in the Heirloom line of cosmetics was teased for Warframe Ember and set to launch on July 20; alongside details for marketplace pricing changes, with the fourth Heirloom skin to be revealed at the show itself. Jade Shadows also brings a deluxe skin for Warframe Yareli as well as various quality of life improvements around Necramech acquisition, enemy power scaling, UI fashion recommendations, among others.
TennoCon 2024’s full two-day schedule was also fully detailed. Day One promises a 1999-themed TennoVIP celebration with guest DJ iHearCanvas, karaoke, and more. New activities for Day Two were also revealed like Crack-A-Relic pin trading, dedicated panels each full of major announcements and extra insights around Warframe’s art and sound design, as well as the first-ever dedicated Soulframe Devstream on July 20.
All main stage panels, including Soulframe’s, will be livestreamed worldwide on the official Warframe YouTube and Twitch channels.
Warframe is available on PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch.
