'Histera' Available On Steam Early Access, Reveals Development Roadmap - Trailer

by Rainier on June 20, 2024 @ 10:12 a.m. PDT

Histera is a free-to-play, fast-paced multiplayer shooter with a battlefield that changes on the fly: chunks of battlefield from past, present and future eras transform in real time!

Histera is a free-to-play arena shooter accessible for up to 16 players of all levels to jump right in!

In this fast-paced FPS, players must adapt to survive the Glitch — a chaotic space-time anomaly transforming sections of the map without warning. Will you be able to master the Glitch and secure victory?

Battle with weapons from the past, present and future as you compete to master The Glitch. The Glitch will change the battlefield around you shifting between eras as the bullets fly! One moment you’ll be taking the high ground in a prehistoric valley, only for the ground to shift under your feet, transforming into a tightly packed WW2 warehouse or a gleaming high-tech city street… and more locations are coming.

Choose your weapon loadout carefully as every era has unique strengths and weaknesses when it comes to their weaponry, allowing for some era-defying synergies. Compliment your anti-tank rifle with some flint throwing knives or your assault rifle with a… prehistoric poison shotgun?! Fight as part of a team and prove yourself in competitive team deathmatches and territory control.

Histera is an arena shooter accessible for players of all skill levels. The game is free-to-play and won’t feature any pay-to-win systems, so everyone will be able to jump right in! However, those who are skilled enough may attempt to take the fight to the Glitch itself for powerful rewards.

StickyLock revealed that Histera is now available through Steam Early Access, and will remain so for approximately 6 to 12 months.

The first Eras to be included in Histera are futuristic Montorro City, the prehistoric Pliocene Plateau and war-torn mid-20th century Novgorod. With the Glitch, the maps of these different eras can transform, posing both possibilities and challenges for players. Two gameplay modes will be available at the launch of Early Access: team deathmatch, where the goal is to eliminate the enemy as often as possible, and territory control, in which areas must be claimed and secured. Histera will receive regular updates both during its Early Access phase and beyond.

After the initial launch, a Battle Pass will be introduced that will offer players more customization options for their weapons and characters.

“We plan to release Histera approximately 6 to 12 months after our Early Access launch. This depends mostly on the feedback of the community and how easy it is to implement any changes that come up as a result of that feedback during Early Access. We will be communicating progression through our Discord, social network channels and are currently considering using a roadmap.”

“Histera currently has the core team deathmatch game mode, and three Eras - each with a range of weapons and map sections. The Glitch is fully functional, and a basic progression system to unlock weapons is also in the game. The game is entirely playable and a lot of fun already!”

“During Early Access we will be adding additional content like new Eras, weapons, and cosmetics. We’re also aiming to add new features like extra games modes, improved progression mechanics, and a battle pass system. Aside from content, we will continue to improve the basics of Histera, like movement, gun handling, glitch mechanics and the look and feel of the game. We will prioritize these content updates and new features based on community feedback.”

Key Features:

  • The Glitch: adjust your strategy to take advantage of the chaos caused by the Glitch. Master different terrains in the past, present and future.
  • Fast and Feverish: push yourself to the limit as you rush to adapt and gain (or keep!) the advantage every time the Glitch occurs. The team that can best adapt to Histera’s unpredictable, time-distorting mosh pit will claim victory!
  • High replayability: with the Glitch mechanic transforming the map in the midst of the action, no two rounds of Histera will play out the same.
  • Mix it up: battle through prehistoric caves, a WW2 city under siege and the neon bathed streets of a dystopian metropolis wielding anything from spears to machine guns as time periods collide.
  • Choose your weapon: use a wide variety of weapons to withstand the chaos wrought by the Glitch — will you stay in the shadows with a prehistoric hunting bow, or get up close with The Matchstick, a futuristic shotgun that can be loaded with incendiary rounds?
  • Versatile First-Person gameplay: Perfect for easygoing fans of the shooter genre looking for something different as well as hardcore gamers seeking their latest challenge.

Histera is coming to PC (Steam) in 2025.
