'Monster Jam Showdown' Leaves The Stadium And Goes Off-Road - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on June 27, 2024 @ 2:20 p.m. PDT

Monster Jam Showdown takes advantage of cutting-edge technology to create lifelike, meticulously detailed environments as well as an unprecedented lighting and physics system.

Developed with Unreal Engine 5, Milestone has been able to empower gameplay possibilities and seeks to provide a fulfilling experience able to give players all the best of Monster Jam, and much more.

In addition to enjoying all the action of the official competitions, players will be able to drive iconic monster trucks in unique environments, facing a variety of events which will make the fun as big and as loud as the sport itself. Monster Jam Showdown will feature a total of 66 official Monster Jam trucks (40 trucks will be included in the base game and 26 will be available through free or premium DLCs), and more than 140 paint jobs to unlock and apply. In order to create a faithful reproduction of Monster Jam live events, fans will compete in all three categories of venues, namely American football fields, baseball stadiums, and speedways, providing varying experiences between rectangular, diamond, and oval layouts.

Beyond that, players will be able to drive their favorite Monster Jam trucks in three original environments inspired by the American great outdoors: the barren desert of Death Valley, the stunning forests and crystal rivers of Colorado, and the wintry, wild mountains of Alaska. From official competitions such as head-to-head racing and freestyle to specially designed events, a total of 10 different game modes will grant a robust mix of arcade experiences both online and offline, including split-screen.

Monster Jam Showdown is about to take players to the untamed American wilderness.

Bringing the action outside stadiums and beyond the official competitions, off-road races will have Monster Jam fans entertained for hours. Three original biomes developed within Unreal Engine 5 will grant stunning visuals, with each biome hosting a variety of game types designed to enhance the arcade-like style of the game. Relying on dual-steering to fully control their vehicle, players will find themselves drifting on the snow and ice of Alaskan mountains, zipping through the trees of Colorado forests, or rallying the rocky landscapes of Death Valley’s desert in adrenaline-pumping races.

Be sure to search every corner, as off-road tracks will feature unique layouts with hidden shortcuts and unexpected jumps to allow even the most unlikely overtakes. Along each track, players will encounter destructible objects such as ice blocks or wooden pylons to recharge their boost and roar past the competition. Importantly, extreme weather conditions will make each race even more challenging and dynamic, forcing players to deal with the brute force of mother nature from violent sandstorms to heavy rains and blizzards.

To immediately deliver the feeling and excitement of mastering 1,500 horsepower mechanical machines, Monster Jam Showdown will feature arcade gameplay as well as comprehensive and customizable driving aids. This way, everyone will be able to dive into the true spirit of Monster Jam by easily performing massive maneuvers and dynamic stunts while smashing the competition. At the same time, Milestone’s technology and expertise will ensure truthful physics in order to deliver an approachable yet rewarding experience.

Monster Jam Showdown is coming to Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store) on August 29, 2024.
