'Alan Wake 2' Night Springs DLC Launches Tomorrow, Physical Editions This Fall - Trailer

by Rainier on June 7, 2024 @ 3:25 p.m. PDT

Alan Wake 2 is a survival horror game with an intense atmosphere and a twisted, layered, psychological story.

Alan Wake 2 will be a truly next-generation experience.  Not only that, but Alan Wake 2 also turns up the level of dread as our very first dive into the survival horror genre, so expect a chilling experience with familiar psychological horror elements.

Whereas the first Alan Wake had horror elements in it, it was an action game. Alan Wake 2 is Remedy’s first survival horror game. Their take on the genre and an opportunity to truly connect the gameplay and the story, making it a deep, layered mystery.

With Control, released in 2019, Remedy established its Connected Universe, where both Control and Alan Wake exist in the same universe. AWE, the second expansion of Control, builds a crossover event between the two games, and hints of things to come. Playing Remedy's games is not required in any way to fully enjoy Alan Wake 2, but to those interested it will add to the backstory of it.

Remedy Entertainment announced that Alan Wake 2's Night Springs DLC will be available tomorrow, on June 8, 2024.

In this surreal expansion, Alan Wake, trapped in the Dark Place, uses his imagination to script episodes for the Night Springs TV show and try to write himself out of captivity. This journey turns the familiar into the strange in three stylized episodes featuring three altered versions of familiar characters. Dive deep into this altered reality – will you be able to escape or will you find yourself in the Dark Place again and again?

Along with Night Springs, players will soon have access to the much-requested photo mode, which will be released tomorrow as a free update. This feature allows fans to capture and share amazing in-game moments with a variety of filters and customization tools.

Night Springs is part of the Expansion Pass available to anyone who owns the Digital Deluxe Edition of Alan Wake 2 and the upcoming physical Deluxe Edition or a physical limited collector's edition. It also includes another expansion, The Lake House, which will be released this fall.

Alan Wake went missing in 2010. He was a bestselling writer based in New York City. On a vacation in the Pacific Northwest with his wife, Alice Wake, he came face to face with a force of supernatural darkness. It brought Wake’s writing, a horror story, to life. He fought this dark presence and managed to banish it back to where it came from, a nightmarish dark place hidden under a caldera lake outside the small town of Bright Falls. Wake wrote an ending to his horror story and with that freed his wife from the darkness under the lake but became trapped there himself.

Alan Wake is not dead, although he has wished he was many times. For 13 years he’s been a prisoner in the Dark Place, where his nightmares, his fears, and his stories manifest as reality around him. For 13 years, he has been fighting to stay sane and write a story that would change reality around him in order for him to escape. So far, he has failed.

Saga Anderson is an accomplished FBI agent with a reputation for solving impossible cases. She arrives in the small-town community of Bright Falls in the Pacific Northwest to investigate a string of ritualistic murders.

Anderson’s case spirals into a nightmare when she discovers pages of a horror story that start to come true around her and suggest disturbing links to Alan Wake, a writer who went missing in the area over a decade ago.

Alan Wake 2 is available for PC (Epic Games Store), PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
