Marvel Rivals is a cooperative, Super Hero team-based PVP shooter that lets players assemble an ever-evolving all-star squad of Super Heroes and Super Villains while battling with unique super powers across a dynamic lineup of destructible maps from across the Marvel Multiverse. 

Marvel Rivals features a storyline crafted by the NetEase writing team where the merciless clash between the tyrannical dictator Doctor Doom and his future counterpart from the year 2099 has forced countless universes to collide in the Timestream Entanglement, creating new worlds and crises still unknown.

Now, Super Heroes and Super Villains from across the multiverse must fight together and against one another as disparate groups seek to defeat both Dooms before one achieves domination of these realities. Familiar faces become newfound foes while former enemies become the greatest of allies in Marvel Rivals!

You’re not just higher-dimensional beings controlling game characters, nor are you elite players pressing buttons at high APM — you ARE the heroes. We wanted to take these Super Heroes and push them like never before! Use Magneto to cast Metal Bulwark to protect your teammates from projectile damage. Choose Hela and call upon forces of Nastrond to annihilate your enemies. Choose Venom to tap into the power of the symbiote and devour your enemies or pick Adam Warlock and unleash the potential of quantum magic, establishing a soul bond with your teammates to charge ahead or resurrect your entire team. Better yet, leverage the power of flight by choosing Iron Man, Storm, and other flying heroes to suppress enemies using aerial combat techniques.

Heroes are split into three distinct roles based on their unique power inclinations: Vanguard, Duelist, and Strategist. You’re free to pick your preferred role and hero, teaming up with allies to create a versatile and dynamic lineup for battle.

Native to the planet Klyntar but once bonded to a certain infuriating web-head, the alien symbiote found his pair in the disgruntled Eddie Brock, together becoming the hulking Venom. After years as a hungering force of evil, these halves have found their way to becoming a one-of-a-kind lethal protector, evolving beyond their kin yet never surrendering their unmatched ferocity.

Lost in the Timestream Entanglement, Venom remains unable to recollect their past, thrust into worlds unknown as they function on instinct to recuperate. However, darkness stirs in the far reaches of the Multiverse as something ancient wriggles its tendrils into divine minds across all of time and space. Now, it's up to Venom to recover their memory and take the battle to the edge of space, whether dressed in black or blue!

Marvel Rivals will be running their closed beta program beginning July 23 and concluding August 5, 2024.

Marvel Rivals closed beta program will include all the content from the recent Closed Alpha Test, plus Marvel favorites Venom and Adam Warlock who are joining the all-star roster to make a total of 21 playable heroes ready to battle in iconic Marvel locations including the newly revealed TOKYO 2099: SPIDER-ISLANDS map. Accessible on all major platforms including PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, featuring cross-platform play across available regions, this large-scale test will invite players in North America, Europe and other regions.

Players can sign up now for access at the Marvel Rivals Steam store starting 3pm PT on July 20th. Players can also secure beta access through the official Twitch Drop event starting 5pm PT on July 25th through 5pm PT on July 28th.

The Marvel Rivals team will also host a special closed beta preview livestream on July 22 at 8 PM PT on Discord, Twitch and YouTube. 

Marvel Rivals is set to electrify this year’s San Diego Comic-Con with a series of captivating events and exclusive content. Attendees can immerse themselves in the Marvel Rivals experience through playable demos, insightful panels, and special giveaways, ensuring that the Marvel booth will be a must-visit destination.

Join the Marvel Rivals panel for an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the next great Super Hero shooter game. Get insights from the NetEase Games creative team, including Jinghua Duan (Lead Narrative Designer), Dino Ma (Art Director), and Donger Gan (Narrative Designer), along with the Marvel Games creative team: Danny Koo (Executive Producer), Dakota Maysonet (Creative Development Manager), and Dan LaDuca (Senior Art Director). This panel will be moderated by Ryan Penagos (VP & Creative Executive of Digital Marketing) as the teams delve into the story, art, and sound design of the game. Expect exclusive reveals, including a new game trailer and special guest appearances!

• Marvel Rivals Special Presentation (4:30 PM PDT - 5:00 PM PDT, Marvel Booth)

The Marvel Rivals team will join the Marvel Games crew for a special presentation that includes a brand-new trailer, more game details, and special giveaways, including an SDCC exclusive Galacta lithograph, for fans who sign up to play the demo. Fans can collect them after signing up for the demo in the virtual queue system, while supplies last.

• Marvel Rivals Community Livestream (10:00 PM PDT, Discord)

Can’t make it to SDCC this year? No need to worry as the Marvel Rivals team will host a livestream on Discord with a full recap of all the announcements and activities including new content updates, SDCC exclusive merch highlights, and a full recap of the Marvel Rivals panel.

• Marvel Rivals Signing Session (3:15 PM PDT - 4:15 PM PDT, Marvel Booth)

The Marvel Rivals team will host a special poster signing session with a surprise guest. 

In Marvel Rivals, the bonds and friendships that once lived only in the lore are brought to life on the battlefield through Team-Up Abilities, further enriching and changing your combat strategy. Magneto can receive a touch of Scarlet Witch’s chaos magic and use his giant steel sword to slash at enemies with a chaos energy wave. Hulk can enhance Iron Man’s Nano Armor, enabling it to emit incredibly powerful gamma energy infused in his Unibeam. Of course, the classic scene where Rocket Raccoon rides on Groot’s shoulders and fires wildly at the enemy can also be recreated in the game. When up against overwhelming enemies, even Venom and the Spider-Totems can set aside their differences to morph into a united Venomized force, piercing through the battlefield with dark, lethal spikes!
