'Tekken 8' Joins EVO 2024, Bandai Namco Brings Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero Demo Stations

by Rainier on July 3, 2024 @ 3:07 p.m. PDT

Tekken 8 brings the fight to the next generation, using Unreal Engine 5 and creating one of the most visually stunning and immersive titles in the genre yet.

Tekken 8 pushes the envelope for fighting games and takes full advantage of the power of the latest generation of consoles

"Fist Meets Fate” in the dramatic new storyline in Tekken 8.

The Tekken series holds the Guinness World Record for being the longest-running video game storyline, with Tekken 8 continuing the tragic saga of the Mishima and Kazama bloodlines and their world-shaking father-and-son grudge matches. This latest saga begins where the previous title left off, with a world mired deep in the devastating war between Kazuya Mishima and Jin Kazama. After suffering what seems to be a defeat from Kazuya, Jin faces his own fate. His mother, Jun Kazama, appears after her absence from the Tekken franchise to try and turn the tide in this blood feud.

Tekken 8 will feature exciting new gameplay focused on “Aggressive” tactics. Retaining Tekken’s unique fighting game identity, the game will provide both players and spectators with the series’ most thrilling experience yet with visceral screen-jarring attacks and environments that are both dynamic and destructible.

Bandai Namco Entertainment America Inc. wants fans to get giddy – and if they’re serious about competition, “git gud” – for what is sure to be a memorable EVO 2024 in Las Vegas. The fight to become the first-ever Tekken 8 King of Iron Fist enters its biggest arena yet with Tekken World Tour competitions at EVO. The Tekken team is also planning exciting activities including livestreamed panels giving insight to what’s ahead for the acclaimed sequel in the legendary fighting game franchise.

Bandai Namco has a different kind of treat at EVO for anime brawler fans. While not there for competition, attendees will be among the first in the world to get hands-on with a demo of Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero.

EVO 2024 takes place July 19-21, 2024, at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Tekken’s pro circuit hits its biggest US stop at EVO 2024. Tekken World Tour brings together the world’s best players to compete, and EVO will be the place to see some ‘good-ass Tekken’ as fighters vie for points to earn their spot to compete for a one-of-a-kind title – the first to be crowned as champion in Tekken 8. EVO will feature Tekken World Tour Master+ tournaments where players can earn maximum points for leaderboard rankings and the right to compete in the finals. Bandai Namco Entertainment America Inc. will reveal more details about the Tekken World Tour 2024 Finals soon.

Tekken 8 will feature large on the show floor, with demos that include newly released characters at the Bandai Namco booth for the duration of EVO as well as a special livestream and stage events on Friday, July 19, and Saturday, July 20. Tekken fans can also look forward to activities around a partnership with Chipotle, who will join Bandai Namco for a sponsored co-stream on Friday.

In Tekken 8, all characters’ models have been completely remade from the ground up, making the most of the latest generation of hardware and providing a better experience for players.

Tekken 8 is available for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam).
