Progress through ten ages of humanity, from the Stone Age to the near future, unlocking new technologies, new ways of living, and, maybe, alternate pasts that could have been.
Create your own nation in Millennia, a historical turn-based 4X game that challenges your strategic prowess across 10,000 years of history, from the dawn of humanity to our possible futures. Set the course of history and experience different timelines in every playthrough as you write an epic story through your actions. Lead your people through times of crisis and ages of discovery, face great challenges and opportunities, and build a civilization that prospers through the ages.
C Prompt Games is an American development team helmed by veteran strategy game developers Rob Fermier, Ian Fischer and Brian Sousa. Motivated by a passion for deep and replayable systems-driven games, they bring their experience working on many celebrated real-time strategy games (including Age of Empires II, Age of Mythology and Starcraft II, as well as Orcs Must Die) to the turn-based 4x space in Millennia, a game that pairs the familiar comforts of the genre with fresh new gameplay to enable players to write their own stories of the past
Dictate the course of history across ten ages, from the first cities to space travel. Accomplish certain objectives and you can move time into a Variant Age - an alternate history with new rules, new technologies, and new units. But beware Crisis Ages; following a path of chaos and disorder may plunge the world into a future filled with war, sickness or ignorance. Then again, a wise ruler can always turn a crisis into an opportunity.... Choose the path with care, as the ages you pass through will have a lasting impact on your people and the world.
Customize your nation by adopting unique Nations Spirits over the course of your game. Will you be a nation of warriors or explorers? Are your people lead by a Great Khan or a builder of monuments? Are you known for defining pop culture or for dominating global finance? What parts of your culture will reverberate across history?
After months of improvements to the core game, the C Prompt development team is happy to announce the release date for the first expansion of the Millennia Expansion Pass.
Choose a new beginning for humanity, living off the land and finding the perfect place to start the story of society in Millennia: Ancient Worlds, coming on August 12, 2024 at $9.99/£8.49/€9.99. It is also included as part of the Millennia expansion pass.
Ancient Worlds is an expansion for the 4X historical strategy game from C Prompt Studios, published by Paradox Interactive, released earlier this year. Ancient Worlds adds new options at the game start, including a potential new government type, as well as a new diplomacy-centered National Spirit, landmarks and other content inspired by humanity’s earliest days.
Millennia: Ancient Worlds includes:
- Nomadic Band Start: Open the game with an unsettled band of travellers, scavenging for resources to improve the strength of your group until you decide to settle down and form a proper society.
- New Threats: Megafauna stalk the land, threatening your prehistoric nomads but providing the chance for new events and experiences.
- New Terrain: A Frozen Terrain start introduces new challenges as it limits resource gathering, but lush grasslands and forests are revealed as the tundra melts and more hospitable settings expand.
- New National Spirit:Messengers is an Age II National Spirit that emphasises early game diplomacy. Give gifts to your rival nations, gather resources from minor nations and preserve their independence, and reap benefits from the new Llama special good.
- New Starting Government: Band Society: Rather than building up a Homeland, Band Societies rely on potent short-term bonuses and Tribal Camps to gain an early lead. They also gain a Nomad Band to scavenge terrain and settle an additional Capital Region.
- New Landmarks: Discover majestic natural wonders as you explore your new world. Mount Jianglang, Iguazu Falls, the Great Redwood Forest and eight more Landmarks can appear on the map, each with its own new Expedition.
Manage your economy with care and create a juggernaut of growth and construction. Start with basic resources to gain food, wealth, and production. As your advance, decide how to best convert these simple goods into more valuable products through research and improvements. Specialize your regions, turning iron into weapons or tools, wood into paper or lumber, gold into coin or jewelry. Ship surplus goods where they are needed, allowing the breadbasket of your empire to feed far-flung colonies or your industrial heartland to supply troops near your enemy.
Pursue knowledge to research scientific and cultural advances, unlocking new units, buildings, and improvements to grow your cities or strengthen your armies. Research Defense to train the first archers, Smelting to master iron production, or Guilds for making wine. Variant and Crisis Ages feature unique alternatives, introducing everything from Cloud Estates in the Age of Aether to underwater cities in the Age of Utopia.
Achieve your ultimate success through a Victory Age. Toward the end of the game (or earlier if your strategy is sound), dominance allows a nation to dictate the winning conditions. The rest of the world must decide if they will struggle to achieve victory before the leader ... or oppose the leader's attempt. Risk everything to take victory in the Renaissance or carefully plan for triumph in the modern era.
Key Features:
- History and Alternate History: Lead your people through ten historical ages, steer your timeline into the uncharted alternate history of a Variant Age or the danger and opportunity of a Crisis Age. Each Age involves unique rules, units, buildings, goods, and challenges, which can alter the path of history.
- National Spirits: Decide what your Nation is famous for by selecting National Spirits and using the bonuses they provide to achieve your goals. Combine multiple National Spirits as you progress through history to craft a unique civilization in every game.
- Domains: Invest in six different Domains that influence the focus of your Nation – Exploration, Government, Warfare, Diplomacy, Engineering, and Arts. The better you provide for each, the more your Nation can make use of unique Domain Powers. Everything from claiming territory, to adopting new governments, to spreading religion, to reinforcing Armies flows from mastery of the Domains.
- Deep Economy: Design your economy to support your strategy. Gather raw materials, then build Improvements to refine basic Goods like logs or iron into lumber, paper, books, ingots, tools, or weapons – specialized products that allow you to improve and adjust your economic engine to suit whatever history sends your way.
- Army Based Combat: Customize your approach to war by combining individual Units into powerful Armies. Each Unit influences the capabilities of its Army, allowing you to employ a vast number of varied strategies. Once in conflict, watch the action unfold through the Combat Viewer, where battles play out and provide details on how different Armies perform.
- And more: discover natural landmarks, build the Pyramids, compete in the space race, finance expeditions, survive plagues, use diplomacy to your advantage, defeat barbarians, unleash innovations, deal with alien visitors, govern underwater cities, manage air combat, and master a host of other historical-themed content.
Millennia is available for PC (Steam) at $39.99/£34.99/€39.99.
