Set on a remote Lovecraftian island during the 1960s, The Ritual mode is a a relentless PvPvE survival horror extraction that establishes The Bornless universe and pulls players into a high-stakes survival experience. Duos find themselves on Farmouth Island at night; the fog is out in full, and beyond it lurks all manner of phobia-inducing creatures. Their only means of extracting off the island and returning to their respective Safehouses is to complete the necessary rituals, invoke the Demons of Farmouth, and do their deadly bidding. Those who don’t must fight to survive or risk losing everything.

Begin your harrowing journey in an isolated cabin and navigate through the dense, mist-shrouded forests of Farmouth Island. Collect crucial resources, tackle mysterious objectives, and survive the terror that lurks around every corner.

• Phase 1: Loot and Explore - Start in a secluded cabin with your duo partner, armed with your standard loadout or the spoils from previous missions. Venture through haunting landscapes, fight for Sigils, battle cultists and demons to complete quests, and gather valuable items.
• Phase 2: The Ritual - Use Incense to activate ancient ritual sites known as Gates, summoning events yield rare Sigils necessary for the final confrontation. Each completed ritual exposes you to danger, highlighting your location to rival players
• Phase 3: Hunt or Be Hunted - Complete the ritual, invoke the demon, and hunt the remaining players, who must find an extraction point before the time runs out to escape the island.

As eerie sounds of the sea mix with screams, gunshots, and explosions, two characters aboard a boat witness the terrors that await them. This brief yet intense preview promises a blend of horror and action that will leave viewers eagerly anticipating more.

Fans attending Gamescom 2024 can find The Bornless at the Entertainment Area in Hall 10.1, Stand E-080, where they can try out the new game mode, meet popular Twitch streamer Delacroix, enjoy giveaways, meet the team, give feedback, and much more. For those not attending in person, Cathedral Studios will be streaming The Bornless on Twitch and Steam, ensuring everyone can experience the new mode. Cathedral Studios will also have a presence in the Business Area at Hall 4.1, Stand D-011, for those interested in learning more about the studio’s future plans.

The next playtest for The Bornless, featuring The Ritual mode, is scheduled for Fall 2024.
