'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate' Reveals Content Development Roadmap

by Rainier on Aug. 26, 2024 @ 4:14 p.m. PDT

The heroic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles need to fend off the Foot Clan in their first roguelike adventure, travelling through reality-bending portals to rescue their kidnapped master, Splinter.

Commemorating 40 years of the iconic crime-fighting brothers, players and fans alike will travel through reality bending portals to rescue their abducted master, Splinter, in this roguelike action game, designed natively for Nintendo Switch.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate puts players in full control of Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo in an all-new story co-written by SEMC Creative Director Kevin Michael Johnson and legendary TMNT comic book author Tom Waltz. Featuring Super Evil’s unique, fluid combat style mixed with strategic and surprising roguelike gameplay, the result is a fresh Turtles experience with scores of replayability.

The game features fast-flowing combat, a diverse build system that will allow players to build the elemental infused Teenage Turtle of their dreams, bodacious co-op capabilities, and improved visual design, graphics and audio quality. Set across four unique New York City environments, the game keeps TMNT fans enthralled from start to finish, as players encounter familiar allies, tons of easter eggs and references across collectibles and narrative, and encounters with iconic bosses including, of course, the mutant duo Bebop and Rocksteady and archenemy Shredder.

We are incredibly humbled by the reactions of players to this game around the world. TMNT Splintered Fate launched on the 17th July 2024 as the first ever TMNT roguelike and we were really excited to find out what players would think of and the reaction didn’t disappoint us.

Today isn’t about looking back though, it’s about looking forward to what is coming next and we’ve got lots to look forward to, so let’s jump into it. Our next update will be going live very soon for both the Switch and Apple Arcade. This means that TMNT Splintered Fate will now support cross play between the two platforms, simply just share your run code.

Apple Arcade players will also be getting all of the updates that the Switch has, including couch co-op across all devices (requires bluetooth controllers). The update will also include various bug fixes and stability improvements for both platforms.

Steam will be seeing the return of achievements to TMNT Splintered Fate. With well over 90 achievements to earn there are plenty of challenges to keep even the most skilled players busy. We love to game wherever and whenever we get the chance and have been loving the capabilities of the Steam Deck and are working hard to create a first class experience for the platform when we go live on PC. TMNT Splintered Fate will be fully Steam Deck verified to play on the go.

Multiplayer is what makes TMNT Splintered Fate a truly unique and enjoyable experience and we want to make sure that every player gets the chance to enjoy it. As part of the PC release this year we will also update all platforms to include online matchmaking. Players will be able to quickly find a run to join with other players without having to share a run code or have any previous connections to them.  Going into next year we have a lot of exciting features and ideas to continue evolving the Splintered Fate experience for our core, and we will start with a new Challenge Mode. We want to really test our players skills beyond the current challenge of beating Shredder, and let players show their friends who is the number 1 Shellhead.

Which brings me now to the most exciting announcement. We have officially started working on DLC for TMNT Splintered Fate. We’re not going to reveal too much today, but our first DLC is going to include one of the Turtles closest allies as a playable character! But that’s not all, expect a new environment, narrative and enemies. Get ready for a new original TMNT story as well as a brand new chapter to play through, runs will continue to be 4 chapters so you’ll have to pick your direction each run. We hope this DLC will be the first of many.

We have other updates to come following player requests - physical releases, new console expansions and more. We don't have news on these today, but the lair is a hive of activity. Stay tuned!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate is designed with Super Evil’s core philosophy that gamers across platforms deserve to play beautiful, responsive and shared experiences. This guiding principle also fuels Super Evil’s proprietary EVIL Engine, known for unlocking the best possible player experiences by delivering high-performance graphics and precision controls across the widest range of hardware and screen sizes.

Currently available for Applace Arcade and Nintendo Switch, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate comes to PC (Steam) later in 2024.
