'Satisfactory' Launches v1.0, Reveals Console Version In Development

by Rainier on Sept. 10, 2024 @ 3:05 p.m. PDT

Satisfactory is an open-world factory building game with a dash of exploration and combat for 1-4 players.

As employees of FICSIT Inc. enterprising space Pioneers are tasked with charting and exploiting a vast and diverse alien planet to construct and automate intricate multi-story factories for a mysterious unknown purpose. Players must also defend themselves against hostile alien lifeforms, automate vehicles and research new technologies to keep improving their constructs.

Satisfactory lands today with three different biomes on a vast handcrafted world (30km2) full of varyingly hostile alien creatures and six tiers of milestones that unlock machines, resources and equipment. The Early Access launch also offers multiplayer and vehicles with automation capabilities. The live development roadmap already outlines two new updates scheduled for the end of April and May that will bring new milestone tiers, research chains for sulfur and quarts, and a train to transfer your resources between outposts.

Coffee Stain Studios has launched the full version of their hit factory-building simulator Satisfactory. With over 6 million copies sold during its five years of Early Access development, the 1.0 release delivers a full narrative overhaul complete with mysteries for players to uncover, alongside Tier 9 content, allowing players to harness advanced alien tech.

Expanding on this success, Coffee Stain Studios has also revealed that a console edition is in development, looking to bring the conveyor-belt goodness to even more budding Pioneers.

Both newcomers and veterans alike will need to uncover the mysteries of the alien planet of MASSAGE-2 (A-B)b, as they take the role of Pioneers at FICSIT Inc. tasked with advancing Project Assembly. By exploiting natural resources and alien artefacts, Pioneers must produce and transport parts off-planet via the Space Elevator to complete the great undertaking of the Save The Day program — the finer details of which are shrouded in mystery. Nonetheless, humanity is counting on these dedicated Pioneers!

With Phase 5 of Project Assembly now available, players can make use of advanced technologies. In this end-game stage, Portals allow for near-instantaneous transportation across the vast alien lands, and Dimensional Depots offer an efficient option for inventory management. Uniforms have also received some love, as players can now set their character colour, and choose between a range of helmets, tool trinkets, and tool skins!

Complete Project Assembly
Located atop the Space Elevator, players can see the fruits of their labour, as Project Assembly now visually expands with each build phase. With the final phase, players can use Tier 9 buildings, including the Conveyor Belt Mk.6, the Converter, the Quantum Encoder, and more. The most significant addition is seen with Portals, which enable players to travel far-and-wide in a flash, assuming they have the huge power capacity and Singularity Cells necessary.

Harness Powerful Alien Tech
Players can now further exploit alien artefacts and Strange Alien Matter (SAM) to unlock the most powerful tech from FICSIT Inc. Taking the spotlight is the Dimensional Depot, which can be researched in the Molecular Analysis Machine (MAM) and powered by Mercer Spheres and SAM. This building allows use of a cloud of sorts, accessible from anywhere to store and retrieve resources, reducing the amount of globetrotting when constructing the next factory masterpiece.

New Factory, New Me
New decorative pieces for buildings are now available, including windows, fences, and paint finishes, such as Chrome, Copper, and Carbon Steel. Players can also say goodbye to the dress code! Though the deep orange Pioneer apparel is eye-catching, Pioneers have now been granted freedom to customise their uniform colour, helmet, Build Gun, and to equip tool trinkets.

Satisfactory is available for PC (Steam / Epic Games Store), with console versions currenrlyt in development.
