'Until Dawn' Reveals PC Features And System Requirements - Trailer

by Rainier on Sept. 12, 2024 @ 9:53 a.m. PDT

When eight friends become trapped on a remote mountain getaway gone wrong, things quickly turn sinister and they start to suspect they aren't alone.

Gripped by fear and with tensions in the group running high, you’ll be forced to make snap decisions that could mean life or death for everyone involved. Every choice you make while playing as each of the eight friends – even the seemingly trivial ones – will carve out your own unique story.

This highly-charged emotional investment allows players to fear for a character’s safety and is crucial to enjoying the game, your actions alone will decide who survives Until Dawn.

The PC version will have advanced graphical features, customizability, accessibility features and run on a wide range of hardware.

Within the extensive set of features we support on PC, these are some of the big highlights:

Full DualSense controller support

Much like the PS5 console version, we are bringing the capabilities of the DualSense controller straight over to PC. You’ll be able to experience haptic feedback, feeling the heartbeat of the characters during intense Don’t Move sequences. Adaptive triggers allow you to feel the weight of your choices, and experience life-like resistance when pulling the trigger of firearms.

Upscaling with NVIDIA DLSS 3 & AMD FSR 3

We’re using both NVIDIA & AMD technology to bring you the latest versions of their cutting-edge upscaling technologies.

With NVIDIA, the game supports DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) 3.7; their AI-based upscaler  that boosts graphics performance and framerates on GeForce RTX GPUs whilst retaining image quality. We’ve also included Frame Generation (on supported RTX GPUs) for a smoother experience and NVIDIA Reflex to help reduce latency.

With AMD, we’ve included the latest version of FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR): 3.1 – their upscaling technology is designed to run on virtually any hardware. Oh, and if that wasn’t good enough: we’ve also included FSR’s Frame Generation technology as well.

Ultrawide Aspect Ratio

Playing Until Dawn on an ultrawide monitor is quite an experience, and it’s something we’ve wanted to do from the very beginning. You can run on ultrawide monitors with aspect ratios of 21:9, 32:9 and more.

For those who don’t want to use the game’s new 23.9:1 cinematic aspect ratio, you can also play using the original 16:9 aspect ratio. Or, if you want to really configure, we allow you to run it in “Free” aspect ratio mode.

Ray-tracing support

If you have the supported hardware, Until Dawn has been built with a curated set of ray-tracing features, such as shadows, reflections and Ambient Occlusion.

Unlocked frame rate

One of the great reasons for playing on PC is the sheer power of the hardware you can run on. For those who have monitors (and machines) that can render high frame rates: you can play at whatever frame rate your machine can support.

Aside from these features, we also support multiple peripherals beyond the DualSense controller. We also support Steam Input, so you can remap to your heart’s content.

Key Features

  • Set at an isolated mountain lodge where nothing is as it seems, 8 friends try to stay alive with a killer on the loose. Players define the relationships between the characters through dialogue and experience the night from their unique point of view. Written in collaboration with famed horror writers and directors Larry Fessenden and Graham Reznick, find out who will survive Until Dawn.
  • Harnessing  the power of an evolved Killzone  Shadowfall engine, this 3rd person interactive horror will shock and horrify players thanks to its realistic graphics  and  edge  of  your  seat  gameplay  as  they  navigate  their  way  through  a terrifying night.  The DualShock 4 motion sensor functionality will track how still you can  be  whilst  in  hiding  from  Until  Dawn’s  fearsome  terrors  and  the  camera  will capture player scares as they happen to share with friends.
  • Players carve their path to survival with branching story lines which mean that no two stories will be the same. Decisions, big and small, will shape each player’s unique story. Inspired by the chaos theory, the butterfly effect could make trivial split-second decisions ripple into moments of grave peril.
  • Place yourself in impossible situations where there is no right or wrong answer. Friend or foe, live or die – make these decisions before it’s too late.
  • With spine-tingling performances from a talented cast of Hollywood actors, including Hayden Panettiere (Heroes, Nashville) and Rami Malek, Until Dawn delivers credible performances that forge an emotional bond with players.

Currently available for PS4, Until Dawn is coming to PS5 and PC (Steam) on October 4, 2024.
