Outlast, the original release, begins with an intriguing anonymous tip that leads you to explore the dark heart of Mount Massive Asylum, home to the secret experiments of the Murkoff Corporation. Whistleblower, the DLC continuation, tells the backstory to the atrocities found in Outlast and stretches past the events of the first game to show the final bloody chapter in Mount Massive Asylum's story. Outlast 2 places you deep in the wilderness where you discover the residents of Temple Gate and a corruption so profound that going mad may be the only sane thing to do.

While not a direct sequel to the other critically acclaimed Outlast titles in the series, The Outlast Trials will be set in the same thrilling universe: more precisely, right in the middle of the Cold War era where players take on the role of test subjects abducted by the shadowy Murkoff Corporation.

The Outlast Trials introduces the Invasion Experimental Therapy with a gruesome new trailer illustrating the new, PvP Invasion Mode. The centrepiece of the upcoming major update in Season 4, Invasion Mode will  allow players to enter the Trials of their fellow Reagents, disguising themselves as Imposters and wielding brutally effective knives to sabotage and slay their opponents.

Combining unique co-op strategy with close-quarters combat, the new Invasion mode heightens the suspense—and the violence—of The Outlast Trials on October 21st, just in time for Halloween.

Accessed via the Sleep Room Terminals, the new Invasion Mode allows players to join as either a Reagent or an Imposter. Only a limited number of Imposters can invade any given Trial, but while the others wait, they can be the eyes and ears of their murderous teammates. Each Imposter will get a chance to invade the Trial, as their peers succeed in their sabotage…or die trying. 

Key Features of New PvP Invasion Mode:

• Become the Hunter — Stalk your prey from the shadows, utilizing stealth and subterfuge to sneak up on unsuspecting Reagents before going in for the kill. 
• Surveil the Trials — Plan your route and attack strategy by carefully considering surveillance camera footage. Your fellow Imposters 
• Don a Deadly Disguise — Dress yourself in the garb and skin of your targets to gain their trust. Then, when the moment’s right…
• Stab Them In the Back — Close-quarters combat is the only rule of engagement. Outwit your opponent with multiple blade strikes or a single, lethal stab attack. One slip up means certain death, ratcheting up the intensity in the high-pressure Trial arenas.
