'Assassin's Creed Mirage' To Get Free Valley of Memory Story Expansion In November - Trailer

by Rainier on Oct. 6, 2025 @ 9:45 a.m. PDT

Assassin's Creed Mirage goes back to the narrative-driven roots of the series, set 20 years before Assassin's Creed Valhalla featuring a young Basim.

In the ninth century CE, Baghdad is at its height, leading the world in science, art, innovation, and commerce. Amid its bustling urban landscape, a conflicted young orphan with a tragic past must navigate the streets to survive.

Experience the story of Basim in Assassin's Creed Mirage.

A shorter, more narrative-driven game than recent entries in the series, Assassin's Creed Mirage takes place 20 years before the events of Assassin's Creed Valhalla, as players meet a 17-year-old Basim struggling with nightmarish visions and living life as a cunning street thief.

Fortunately for Basim, the Hidden Ones (including his mentor Roshan, voiced by Shohreh Aghdashloo) see his potential and help him flee Baghdad to the Hidden Ones' fortress of Alamut. As he learns their mysterious rituals and powerful tenets, he will hone his unique abilities, discover his true nature, and come to understand a new Creed - one that will change his fate in ways he never could have imagined.

Built as an homage to the first Assassin's Creed games, Mirage pays tribute to the series' roots, as players join the proto-Assassin order known as the Hidden Ones and grow to become a master assassin. Baghdad in the ninth century was a bustling metropolis, and it serves as the perfect dense, urban hunting ground as Basim stalks his prey using the series' largest assortment of tools to date. While they haven't quite adopted the name "Assassins" at this point in history, make no mistake: The Hidden Ones are a powerful and established order, with resources and the all-important creed to guide them. As Basim explores Baghdad, he'll be able to get contracts and upgrades from a network of Hidden One bureaus throughout the city, collect clues on his targets, and take them down with swift assassinations.

In this pivotal moment of History, players will become Basim Ibn Is’haq, a young thief with a mysterious past who joins the Hidden Ones in Alamut on a quest for answers. Basim will be voiced by two talented actors: Lee Madjoub for the VO and Eyad Nassar for the Arabic version, as Assassin’s Creed: Mirage is the first Assassin’s Creed game to release worldwide with full Arabic localization, including text and voice. They are joining the incredible Mirage cast with Shohreh Aghdashloo, who will voice Roshan, Basim's mentor in the Hidden ones.

Of course, an assassin's greatest advantage comes from their climbing ability, and as the series returns to a large-scale urban environment, Basim will need to leap across rooftops, scale tall towers, and flee guards by parkouring seamlessly through Baghdad's four distinct districts. When information can't be gained by gathering clues, Basim's eagle Enkidu can take to the skies, survey areas, and tag enemies for Basim to stealthily eliminate.

Assassin's Creed Mirage is celebrating its second anniversary with the announcement of Valley of Memory, a free story expansion for Assassin’s Creed Mirage launching November 18.

Valley of Memory is a free major update for anyone who owns Assassin’s Creed Mirage, offering up to six hours of additional gameplay and story. Taking place before the main adventure’s finale, Valley of Memory kicks off when Basim learns that his long-lost father might still be alive in AlUla. Basim decides to go on a journey to see if the rumors hold any truth, only to discover that the valley of AlUla is threatened by a dangerous band of robbers and his father is missing.

Taking place in an entirely new region and map, Valley of Memory adds a host of new content including a new main quest and new assassination targets, as well as side quests, contracts, and more. Basim can even play the oud now at certain locations once you successfully track down music sheets through parkour challenges. Valley of Memory also features a unique twist on Assassin’s Creed’s classic black box missions, but that you’ll have to discover for yourself.

Valley of memory takes place in 9th-century AlUla, an ancient valley charged with history and home to stunning and diverse landscapes. You will have the chance to explore a variety of points of interest in the region, from the old town of AlUla and the Musa Ibn Musayr fortress to the Valley of the Stones and the impressive necropolis of Hegra. Be careful as you explore the sites, as the Robbers have set up ambushes across the desert to catch unwelcome visitors.

Valley of Memory is also introducing improvements to the game that will apply whether you are playing in the AlUla region, or the main adventure in Baghdad.

  • Replayable Missions and Challenges – All black box missions and contracts in Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Valley of Memory will be replayable after you complete them once. Accessible through the “Animus Sequences” section of your objective board or directly within the world, each replayable mission will offer distinct challenges, forcing you to play in new and creative ways. You may have to avoid using Eagle Vision, kill only your main target, remain undetected, or complete the mission in a certain amount of time. Completing these challenges will unlock exclusive in-game rewards.
  • Parkour Updates – New features in the gameplay will strengthen your parkour experience in Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Players will now be able to toggle on the ability to manually jump, allowing them to weave together free-running parkour sequences that were previously impossible. A new control scheme is also being introduced to smoothen the experience of leaping from rooftop to rooftop. Players will also be able to customize side and back ejects. Previously side and back ejects could only be performed when Basim had a clear landing spot or handhold. Now, Basim can side or back eject regardless of the landing spot. These new updates allow for more creative parkouring than ever before in Assassin’s Creed Mirage.
  • New Skill and Tool Customization – A new skill called Engineer 2 has been added to Basim’s skill tree that will allow him to equip all level 1 modifications to his tools and a new level 3 modification has been added to all Tools as well.
  • New Difficulty Levels – Two additional difficulty levels have been added, allowing you to customize the challenge to your liking.
  • And much more to discover in the update’s patch notes.

Key Features:

  • Discover a tightly crafted, narrative-driven action-adventure experience that follows the transformation of a defiant young man into a refined Master Assassin.
  • Journey to Alamut, the legendary home of the Assassins who laid the foundations of the Creed in this heartfelt homage to the game that started it all.
  • Experience a modern take on the iconic features and gameplay that have defined a franchise for 15 years as you parkour seamlessly through the city and stealthily take down targets with more visceral assassinations than ever before.
  • Explore an incredibly dense and vibrant city whose inhabitants react to your every move, and uncover the secrets of four unique districts as you venture through the Golden Age of Baghdad.

Assassin's Creed Mirage is available for iOS, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, PC and Amazon Luna.
