Marvel Rivals is a cooperative, Super Hero team-based PVP shooter that lets players assemble an ever-evolving all-star squad of Super Heroes and Super Villains while battling with unique super powers across a dynamic lineup of destructible maps from across the Marvel Multiverse. 

Marvel Rivals features a storyline crafted by the NetEase writing team where the merciless clash between the tyrannical dictator Doctor Doom and his future counterpart from the year 2099 has forced countless universes to collide in the Timestream Entanglement, creating new worlds and crises still unknown.

Now, Super Heroes and Super Villains from across the multiverse must fight together and against one another as disparate groups seek to defeat both Dooms before one achieves domination of these realities. Familiar faces become newfound foes while former enemies become the greatest of allies in Marvel Rivals!

You’re not just higher-dimensional beings controlling game characters, nor are you elite players pressing buttons at high APM — you ARE the heroes. We wanted to take these Super Heroes and push them like never before! Use Magneto to cast Metal Bulwark to protect your teammates from projectile damage. Choose Hela and call upon forces of Nastrond to annihilate your enemies. Choose Venom to tap into the power of the symbiote and devour your enemies or pick Adam Warlock and unleash the potential of quantum magic, establishing a soul bond with your teammates to charge ahead or resurrect your entire team. Better yet, leverage the power of flight by choosing Iron Man, Storm, and other flying heroes to suppress enemies using aerial combat techniques.

Heroes are split into three distinct roles based on their unique power inclinations: Vanguard, Duelist, and Strategist. You’re free to pick your preferred role and hero, teaming up with allies to create a versatile and dynamic lineup for battle.

 Games and NetEase Games have unveiled full details for Season 5: Love is a Battlefield for Marvel Rivals.

The exciting fifth season will launch on November 14 and will introduce Gambit as a playable hero. Additionally, a new non-combat Times Square map will be released as Marvel Rivals celebrates its first anniversary. Season 5 will also introduce new features, a new Conquest (Annihilation) mode, special events, plenty of quality-of-life updates and Team-Ups. 

After the Timestream Entanglement interrupted their dream wedding, Gambit planned a honeymoon full of surprises for Rogue to make up for the disruption. But as their journey leads to a world built by the Elders of the Universe, can their love survive the ultimate cosmic test?

Gambit (Strategist) - Gambit is a master Strategist, blending kinetic energy control with his iconic playing cards, agile movement, and expert combat skills to create a unique playstyle. In battle, he can combine his Chronovium-enhanced cards to unlock kinetic shifting to heal allies, cleanse negative effects, or deal damage: knocking back enemies and applying anti-heal. When teammates need help or foes rush in, Gambit can channel energy into his staff, using nimble movement and martial arts to take down threats. When activating his Ultimate Ability, Gambit launches kinetic-charged aces at all nearby allies, supercharging their jump abilities and adding explosive power to their attacks!

For Season 5, Marvel Rivals brings the grand debut of New York's Times Square map, which launches on November 14 as a non-combat map that can host up to 100 players. Players can hang out, dance, watch videos, read books, and let their imagination run wild. After seeing so many fun, friendly meetups in the Doom Match Sanctum Sanctorum map, the Marvel Rivals team wanted to give everyone a dedicated space for socializing, relaxing, and sharing cool moments outside of battle.

Season 5 also introduces a thrilling new mode: 18 vs 18 Conquest (Annihilation), where 36 players will clash in the all-new Grand Garden map, promising epic chaos and unforgettable fun. This new mode goes live on November 27. There will also be a placement system added to Competitive mode starting in Season 5, with more details coming soon. Season 5 also launches the game’s cross-platform progression feature. The Marvel Rivals team has also announced plans to continue development on the PvE mode that was recently launched with Marvel Zombies. In 2026, players can expect more PvE content, with more details to come. Finally, the costume trial program for university students will continue for Season 5 with a new batch of 10 costumes and MVPs. University students can unlock these perks by verifying their school email address. 

Season 5 marks the first anniversary of Marvel Rivals, a milestone for the team and for all of our players. After the November 27 update, players can join anniversary events to earn 2,500 Units and a free Legendary Jeff costume. There also will be a series of exclusive anniversary costumes, from Marvel Rivals-style looks to community-inspired outfits and even Cake Party-themed costumes. 

In addition to the above, players can continue to get all the latest information from the Game Update featuring full Patch Notes and Hero Balance adjustments.

In Marvel Rivals, the bonds and friendships that once lived only in the lore are brought to life on the battlefield through Team-Up Abilities, further enriching and changing your combat strategy. Magneto can receive a touch of Scarlet Witch’s chaos magic and use his giant steel sword to slash at enemies with a chaos energy wave. Hulk can enhance Iron Man’s Nano Armor, enabling it to emit incredibly powerful gamma energy infused in his Unibeam. Of course, the classic scene where Rocket Raccoon rides on Groot’s shoulders and fires wildly at the enemy can also be recreated in the game. When up against overwhelming enemies, even Venom and the Spider-Totems can set aside their differences to morph into a united Venomized force, piercing through the battlefield with dark, lethal spikes!
