'Apex Legends' Gets In The Holiday Spirit With Merry Mayhem Event Next Week - Trailer

by Rainier on Dec. 11, 2025 @ 9:59 a.m. PST

Set in the Titanfall universe, Apex Legends is a free to play battle royale game with a cast of unique characters, squad-based gameplay, innovative mechanics and more.

Apex Legends delivers a squad-based battle royale experience with a uniquely Respawn flavor. Players will select from one of eight Legends - each with their own unique abilities and playstyles - and the last team standing wins. Combatants can choose from unique characters like Bloodhound, the tracker who can see recent enemy activity on the map, or Lifeline, a battlefield medic who can shield teammates and bring them back from the brink of death. Balanced squads and teamwork are critical, as each Legend is easy to pick up and learn, but challenging to master.

Apex Legends showcases several new genre-leading innovations, starting before players even start the match. Once players are ready to begin, they’ll choose their drop point with the Jumpmaster system, giving each squad full control over exactly where they drop in. Is it smarter to head straight for the most valuable loot and risk early conflict with other teams, or make for one of the outlying areas to plot an attack and let other squads pick each other off?

Feeling holly and jolly this holiday season? Legends can soon deck the halls in Olympus with the all-new Apex Legends: Amped Merry Mayhem Holiday Event running from December 16 until January 6. During Merry Mayhem, players can explore the limited-time festive Olympus map, dash like a reindeer when Guarded Airdrops carrying the hottest weapons fall from the sky, gather new holiday-themed Wild Cards and collect winter EVO Orbs!

  • Check Loot Lists Twice With Guarded Airdrops
    • Wildcard transforms into a holiday free-for-all when Guarded Airdrops hit the ground with squads of hostile Spectres guarding the loot. Fight your way through to claim the Mythic weapons inside, including the Grand Slam baseball bat, Power Sword, Mythic Weapon Kraber and more!
  • Deck The Halls in Olympus
    • Time to deck the halls with bodies and feel the holiday rush! Olympus gets a winter makeover in Wildcard, transforming the floating city into a frozen battlefield – the map gets the full holiday treatment, including EVO Orbs that'll make Legends feel the festive spirit, right before third-parties pull a Grinch and steal all the presents.
  • New Holiday Wild Cards Ice Out Enemies
    • Become an ice-cold killer with new Wild Cards built for winter warfare: Flash Freeze silences enemy abilities on shield break, Do-Over gives a free self-revive when teammates score a knockdown, while Super Cells fully charges your shield with a single Shield Cell.
  • Jolly Legendary Skins
    • Ready for more holiday shopping? No chimney is needed with the Holo-day Bash Store, delivering jolly winter-themed Legendary skins this season. Players can channel their primal instincts with Gibraltar's Brudda Bear and Pandamonium skins, spread joy with Pathfinder's Joyfinder skin, lead the reindeer slay with Octane’s Dasher skin and more!

The innovations don’t stop there as Apex Legends also delivers Respawn Beacons, one-time use locations where defeated teammates can be revived, a contextual Ping communication system that allows players to call out enemies, weapons, locations and more with the push of a button, and an intelligent inventory system which automatically attaches gear and equipment to the appropriate weapons once players pick them up. All together it creates a battle royale experience unlike any other, complete with Respawn’s commitment to top-notch quality and fun.

Apex Legends is now available on Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
